This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full-Cycle Psychiatric Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist based in United States.

This is an opportunity for an experienced medical billing professional to support the revenue cycle operations of a mental health practice based in Texas. You will manage a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral health billing activities, from claims processing and payment posting to accounts receivable follow-up and collections. Working primarily with eClinicalWorks (eCW), you will help maintain accurate patient accounts, resolve billing discrepancies, and support timely reimbursement. The role also involves communicating directly with patients and insurance representatives, requiring professionalism, empathy, and strong attention to detail. You will collaborate remotely with administrative staff, practice management, and external billing partners while working independently in a structured, full-time environment.

Accountabilities

    • Support full-cycle psychiatric and behavioral health medical billing, including claims management, payment posting, accounts receivable, and collections.

    • Review claims, patient balances, billing records, and outstanding account issues to ensure accuracy and timely resolution.

    • Investigate rejected, denied, or underpaid claims and assist with corrections, resubmissions, and appeals.

    • Maintain accurate payment records, accounts receivable information, collection notes, and patient account updates.

    • Apply relevant ICD-10 and CPT codes, payer guidelines, and psychiatric billing requirements when reviewing and processing billing information.

    • Use eClinicalWorks (eCW) to navigate patient accounts, review claims and balances, generate patient statements, and access billing reports.

    • Follow established procedures for claim corrections, account adjustments, insurance follow-up, and billing documentation.

    • Respond to patient billing inquiries and communicate with insurance representatives regarding claims, balances, and payment status.

    • Explain patient statements, copayments, deductibles, outstanding balances, and routine billing questions clearly and professionally.

    • Follow up on outstanding patient balances and approved payment arrangements.

    • Verify patient identity before discussing protected health information and handle sensitive financial and medical information in accordance with privacy requirements.

    • Communicate calmly and empathetically with frustrated or distressed patients, escalating complex or disputed billing matters when appropriate.

    • Prepare and review accounts receivable, claims, payment, and billing performance reports.

    • Extract, organize, and analyze billing information using Microsoft Excel and other approved reporting tools.

    • Identify discrepancies, overdue balances, and unresolved claims requiring further attention.

    • Coordinate with the practice manager, administrative staff, and external billing providers to maintain efficient workflows.

    • Participate in relevant billing meetings, follow up on assigned action items, and apply training updates accurately.

    • Maintain clear documentation of billing activities, account updates, outstanding issues, and changes to established processes.

    • Meet agreed service timelines, deliverables, communication standards, and other requirements defined in the independent contractor agreement.

    • Requirements:

      • At least 2–3 years of hands-on medical billing and full-cycle revenue cycle management experience.

      • Recent experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health billing is required and strongly preferred.

      • Demonstrated hands-on experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) billing functions.

      • Experience managing both patient-related and insurance-related billing matters.

      • Practical knowledge of Medicare Part B billing requirements.

      • Strong understanding of psychiatric CPT and ICD-10 codes, payer requirements, and behavioral health billing processes.

      • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements, supported by documented training or certification.

      • Experience with payment posting, claim denials, accounts receivable follow-up, and collections.

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly for revenue cycle reporting and organizing billing data.

      • Excellent spoken and written English, with strong communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives. A native or near-native level of English is required.

      • Familiarity with electronic claims systems, payer portals, medical billing and reporting tools, email platforms, and business communication applications.

      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.

      • Strong technical reliability and the ability to work consistently in a remote environment.

      • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and accuracy when handling patient financial information.

      • Ability to work independently, learn new procedures quickly, retain instructions, and apply feedback effectively.

      • Professional phone etiquette, active listening skills, and the ability to remain calm and empathetic when handling sensitive or challenging conversations.

      • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and maintaining consistent attendance.

      • Availability to work a dedicated 40-hour weekly schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Central Time.
