Accounting Advisory Senior – CAAS Non-Profit.

FULL TIMEREMOTESENIOR LEVELFINANCE & LEGAL$89K–110K/YR

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Advisory Senior – CAAS Non-Profit based in the United States.

Join a growing client accounting and advisory team supporting nonprofit organizations with their financial operations and accounting needs. As an Accounting Advisory Senior, you will manage multiple client engagements while delivering accurate financial reporting, accounting services, and practical guidance. You will bring hands-on expertise in nonprofit accounting, fund management, month-end close, grant reporting, and audit preparation. Working directly with nonprofit clients, you will help strengthen financial processes, improve operational efficiency, and maintain compliance with U.S. accounting standards. You will also provide guidance to junior colleagues and contribute to high-quality engagement delivery. This opportunity combines technical accounting expertise, meaningful client relationships, and professional development within a collaborative, people-focused environment.

Accountabilities

You will support the day-to-day accounting and advisory needs of nonprofit clients, manage engagement deliverables, and help improve financial processes while maintaining strong client relationships.

    • Manage accounting operations for nonprofit clients, including month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

    • Perform fund accounting activities, including monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds and supporting grant and donor reporting.

    • Prepare and review financial reports for internal management purposes and external client stakeholders.

    • Support year-end accounting procedures and audit preparation, including coordinating documentation, information requests, and communications with external auditors.

    • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal procedures, and implement accounting best practices across client engagements.

    • Work with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct to maintain accurate financial data and reporting.

    • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for clients, gathering information, resolving accounting questions, and providing regular progress updates.

    • Manage multiple nonprofit client engagements simultaneously, prioritizing competing deadlines and delivering accurate, high-quality work.

    • Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback, technical guidance, and support.

    • Coordinate engagement timelines, deliverables, and priorities, escalating complex accounting matters or client concerns to Managers or Directors when appropriate.

    • Assist with onboarding new clients and integrating junior team members into engagement workflows.

    • Contribute to a collaborative team environment through knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and a commitment to client service.

    • Requirements

The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in nonprofit accounting, experience in client-facing accounting or advisory services, and the ability to manage multiple engagements with accuracy and professionalism.

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

      • At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public accounting, Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS), or an outsourced accounting or advisory environment.

      • Required hands-on experience with nonprofit accounting and a strong understanding of nonprofit-specific financial reporting requirements.

      • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including contribution and grant accounting, net asset classifications, donor restrictions, and revenue recognition.

      • Practical experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.

      • Experience supporting year-end audits and coordinating with external auditors.

      • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and act as a primary day-to-day contact for nonprofit clients.

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or comparable systems.

      • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective client relationships.

      • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while collaborating with colleagues.

      • CPA certification or progress toward CPA qualification is preferred.

      • Work arrangement

        • Candidates living within commuting distance of one of the organization's offices are expected to follow a hybrid work schedule.

        • Remote work options and flexible arrangements are available depending on role requirements and business needs.

        • Benefits

          • Annual salary range of $89,000–$110,000 USD.

          • Flexible total rewards package, including personalized benefits and financial compensation options.

          • Flexible work arrangements and remote work options.

          • Flex PTO.

          • 14 firm holidays, including 2 floating holidays.

          • Paid family leave.

          • Winter break and summer hours.

          • Interactive wellness platform and employee wellness incentives.
