DSX Energy Engineer.

ENGINEERING
NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. It’s a unique legacy of innovation that’s fueled by great technology—and amazing people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world. If you are ready to play a pivotal role in advancing the energy systems that power large-scale AI? NVIDIA is seeking an outstanding DSX Energy Engineer to join our team in Santa Clara, CA. This rare opportunity lets you link NVIDIA's engineering builds and standards with power producers, utilities, grid operators, and other partners. You will ensure reliable, affordable, and scalable energy for our AI factories. You’ll join an ambitious team driving innovation and excellence in energy solutions. What you'll be doing: Build strong feedback loops with utilities, independent power producers, generation developers, transmission owners, RTOs and ISOs, EPC firms, equipment manufacturers, energy technology companies, NVIDIA Cloud Partners, and AI factory operators. Translate recurring energy-development, interconnection, reliability, commercial, and community concerns into clear written requirements for DSX product management and engineering roadmaps. Collaborate across NVIDIA and with partners to develop mentorship for behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter energy strategies, including on-site generation, microgrids, battery energy storage, renewable and firm generation, utility-scale projects, transmission capacity, power purchase agreements, and wholesale energy markets. Lead technical workshops and architecture reviews to help partners evaluate generation and interconnection options against site-specific requirements, ensuring decisions are made efficiently. Support early-access and field-validation initiatives for DSX Energy capabilities, including power-flexible operations, demand response, grid services, energy orchestration, and coordination between compute workloads and energy availability. Engage utilities, regulators, consumer advocates, and host communities on energy affordability, reliability, infrastructure investment, siting, land use, water, emissions, and noise. Provide transparent information on tariffs, cost allocation, ratepayer protections, and project benefits. Work across DSX engineering, data center engineering, product management, solution architecture, deployment, sustainability, public policy, and developer marketing to align technical content with product capabilities and collaborator needs. Represent DSX Energy at customer forums, energy conferences, regulatory workshops, community discussions, and industry working groups. Bring field insights back to product teams, tracking outcomes such as time to power, interconnection duration, reliability, flexibility, and documentation clarity. What we need to see: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or a related technical field or equivalent experience. 12 or more years of experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, utility planning, energy project development, large-load interconnection, energy systems engineering, solution architecture, or a related customer-facing engineering role. Deep knowledge of the electric power system, from generation and transmission through distribution, substations, utility service, and large-load facilities. Ability to reason from rack-level load behavior back to the point of common coupling. This includes step load and transient response, ride-through, protection coordination, and harmonics. Also important is understanding how large fluctuating loads interact with on-site generation and storage assets. Working familiarity with large-load data center electrical architecture, and the ability to read and work from reference builds, one-line diagrams, basis-of-design documents, and equipment specifications. Experience with behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter generation, energy storage, microgrids, distributed energy assets, and hybrid power systems. Understanding of conventional, renewable, and emerging generation technologies and their technical, operational, commercial, and environmental tradeoffs. Knowledge of load-flow, short-circuit, stability, interconnection, transmission-capacity, and resource-adequacy studies. Practical understanding of RTO and ISO procedures, utility tariffs, power purchase agreements, energy and capacity markets, demand response, grid services, and infrastructure cost allocation. Ability to turn complex engineering, regulatory, economic, and community topics into clear technical mentorship, presentations, training, and productive discussions with varied audiences. Strong cross-functional leadership and a proven capability to guide internal teams and external partners without direct authority. Ways to stand out from the crowd: Direct participation in utility-scale generation, transmission development, large-load interconnection, or co-located generation projects. Experience crafting behind-the-meter systems that combine generation, battery storage, microgrids, and grid-interactive controls. Knowledge of power-flexible data centers, demand response, workload orchestration, and the use of AI factories as controllable grid assets. Experience with utility rate proceedings, large-load tariffs, interconnection agreements, infrastructure cost allocation, or ratepayer-protection mechanisms. Familiarity with advanced nuclear, natural gas, geothermal, solar, wind, fuel cells, long-duration storage, and other technologies relevant to reliable AI factory power. Join us at NVIDIA and lead our dedicated teams to successfully implement groundbreaking solutions in AI factories! Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and other objective job-related factors. The expected base salary ranges for this position are: 184,000 USD – 287,500 USD for Level 5; and 216,000 USD – 345,000 USD for Level 6. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Applications for this job will be accepted at least until November 7, 2026. This posting is for an existing vacancy. NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.
