Technical Solutions Engineer I Retrofit & Mordernization.

JUNIOR LEVELENGINEERING
Job Title Technical Solutions Engineer I Retrofit & Mordernization Job Description As of April 1, 2026, Bastian Solutions, Vanderlande’s warehousing business, and Viastore are unified under one brand: Toyota Automated Logistics. During this transition, parts of our recruitment activities and communication may still use legacy company systems and email domains. At a glance Are you an Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls/PLC or Automation Engineer ready to use your technical expertise in a new way? Perhaps you enjoy engineering but are curious about the bigger picture: understanding customer needs, developing technical solutions and exploring the commercial side of engineering. You don not need a sales background. Bring your technical expertise and curiosity, and we will help you develop the commercial side. Your role As a Technical Solutions Engineer | Retrofit & Modernization, you develop solutions to modify, upgrade and extend existing automated material handling systems. Together with colleagues from Sales, Service and Engineering, you turn Revision, Modification and Retrofit (RMR) requests into practical technical solutions and convincing customer proposals. Instead of engineering every detail yourself, you focus on the complete solution: what needs to change, what it takes to implement and how we create value for the customer. Your impact: Analyse customer requests and existing automated systems. Develop retrofit and modernization concepts with technical specialists. Define the technical scope for modifications, upgrades and system extensions. Evaluate solutions based on feasibility, cost, performance, risk and maintainability. Estimate the equipment, engineering and implementation effort required. Develop technically sound and commercially attractive solutions with Sales and Service colleagues. Explain solutions to customers and colleagues and ensure a smooth handover to the project team. What do you bring? A background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Control Engineering or a related technical field, gained through education and/or experience. Experience as an Electrical, Mechanical, Controls/PLC, OT, System or Project Engineer, or in a comparable technical role. A good understanding of industrial equipment, controls or automated systems. An analytical mindset and the ability to turn technical challenges into practical solutions. Curiosity about costing, quotations, proposals and customer conversations. Clear communication skills and a good command of English. A collaborative mindset and willingness to travel internationally occasionally, up to approximately 5%. Sales experience is not required. Your technical experience is the starting point, and we’ll help you develop the commercial side. What can you look forward to? The monthly salary for this position ranges from €4,300 to €5.500 gross, with opportunities to grow beyond this range when performance expectations are exceeded. You will also receive: 40 vacation days (20 statutory days plus a flexible budget to purchase 20 additional days); €300 Health & Wellbeing budget per year; Travel allowance or full public transport reimbursement; Flexible working hours and hybrid working (40% home / 60% office); Collective pension scheme; Discounts on supplementary health insurance with VGZ. Ready to join Toyota Automated Logistics? We look forward to hearing from you! No cover letter is required. Just send us your CV and relevant qualifications. Questions?
