English to French Linguist for Life Sciences.

CONTRACTREMOTE

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an English to French Linguist for Life Sciences based in Italy.

As an English-to-French (France) Linguist, you will support global pharmaceutical, clinical research, and medical device organizations by delivering accurate, high-quality translations of specialized life sciences documentation. You will work on clinical trial, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory materials where linguistic precision and regulatory compliance are essential. Your responsibilities will include translation, machine translation post-editing, and linguistic quality reviews across a variety of technical documents. You will collaborate through established translation technology platforms and follow strict project-specific quality standards. This freelance opportunity is fully remote and offers the flexibility to work with international life sciences projects. You will play an important role in ensuring that critical medical and regulatory information is communicated clearly and consistently in French.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will translate and review specialized life sciences content while maintaining high standards of linguistic accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Translate clinical research, regulatory, and pharmacovigilance documentation from English into French (France).

    • Perform Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) on machine-translated safety and medical content.

    • Review translated and post-edited materials through copy editing to ensure accuracy, appropriate tone, terminology consistency, and readability.

    • Work on a variety of specialized documents, including:

      • Clinical research: Clinical trial protocols and synopses, Investigator's Brochures (IB), Informed Consent Forms (ICF), patient information sheets, and patient diaries.

      • Regulatory: Summaries of Product Characteristics (SmPC), Patient Information Leaflets (PIL), product labels, and Common Technical Document (CTD) modules.

      • Pharmacovigilance: Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSUR), Development Safety Update Reports (DSUR), Risk Management Plans (RMP), and Serious Adverse Event (SAE) and Adverse Event (AE) documentation.

      • Meet strict, non-extendable deadlines when handling time-sensitive medical and regulatory content.

      • Use client-provided Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, including XTM or Phrase, in accordance with project requirements.

      • Apply Microsoft Word Track Changes and follow project-specific instructions for reviewing and editing documents.

      • Maintain consistent terminology, formatting, and quality standards throughout all assigned projects.

      • Requirements

The ideal candidate will have professional translation experience in the life sciences or medical field, strong command of English and French, and the ability to deliver accurate work under demanding deadlines. Applicants must meet at least one of the following education and professional experience pathways:

        • A degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, or an equivalent discipline.

        • A recognized graduate qualification in another field, combined with at least 2 years of full-time professional translation experience.

        • At least 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.

        • Additional required qualifications:

          • At least 2 years of practical translation experience specifically involving life sciences, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, and medical documentation.

          • Native-level or equivalent proficiency in French (France), with excellent English comprehension and translation skills.

          • Familiarity with CAT tools, particularly XTM or Phrase. A license will be provided.

          • Experience using Microsoft Word Track Changes for translation review and editing.

          • Strong understanding of specialized medical and life sciences terminology.

          • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain linguistic accuracy and consistency across complex technical documents.

          • Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet strict project deadlines.

          • Willingness to complete a translation assessment as part of the onboarding and quality assurance process.

          • Preferred qualifications:

            • A degree in Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Research, Translation, Linguistics, Philology, or a related field.

            • Previous in-house experience working for a Contract Research Organization (CRO) or pharmaceutical company.

            • Application requirements:

              • Submit an up-to-date English CV clearly outlining your life sciences and medical translation experience.

              • Specify the number of years of professional experience specifically in life sciences translation.

              • Include examples or details of the document types you have translated.

              • Identify the CAT tools you have previously used.

              • Provide your current contact details, including both email address and phone number.

              • Benefits

                • Fully remote freelance opportunity.

                • Flexible remote working arrangement.

                • Opportunity to work on international pharmaceutical, clinical research, and medical device projects.

                • Exposure to specialized clinical trial, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory documentation.

                • Access to client CAT tool environments, including XTM or Phrase, with a license provided.
