We are seeking an Operations Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and control of VCFC’s Payments, Cards and Reconciliations activities. The role ensures that payments and card operations are handled accurately and on time, reconciliations are completed and exceptions resolved, and teams work together effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Payments operations
Oversee the processing of incoming and outgoing payments, including relevant SEPA, SWIFT and other payment channels.
Ensure payment instructions are processed accurately and within applicable cut-off times and service standards.
Monitor queues, exceptions, rejected or delayed payments and unresolved cases; ensure clear ownership through to resolution.
Ensure payment approvals and controls are followed, including maker-checker requirements.
Support the Payments Team Leader and other team members in resolving complex operational issues.
Identify operational risks, control weaknesses and process gaps, escalating material matters
Lead practical improvements to processes, reporting and automation.
Work closely with Finance, Compliance, Risk, Technology, Customer Service and Relationship Management.
Cards operations
Oversee the operational card lifecycle, including card issuance, renewals, replacements, maintenance and settlement-related processes.
Monitor card-related exceptions, service issues and escalations
Oversee the operational handling of disputes and chargebacks, working with the relevant internal teams and external parties.
Reconciliations
Ensure daily and periodic reconciliations are completed across relevant accounts, providers, card activity and payment flows.
Ensure discrepancies are recorded, investigated, assigned and resolved within agreed timeframes.
Identify recurring issues and work with Payments, Cards, Finance and providers to address root causes.
Talent Profile
5 years of experience managing or leading operational teams in banking, payments, card issuing or financial services
A tertiary level qualification in finance, business or a related field
Extensive knowledge of SEPA, SWIFT, card settlement and disputes
Practical understanding of payment processing, card operations and reconciliations
Strong control mindset and ability to investigate exceptions through to resolution
Clear communication and sound judgement when prioritising and escalating issues
Ability to improve processes and work effectively across operational and support teams
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
