Job Description Overview We are seeking a talented BIM Designer to join our GTC Canada BIM Environment Team, supporting the delivery of environmental and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality CAD/BIM deliverables, maintaining drafting standards, and supporting project teams through efficient 2D drafting and BIM coordination processes. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in AutoCAD, experience creating drawings from scratch, working with aerial imagery and site plans, and a solid understanding of model and paper space environments. The role requires an individual who can work independently, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, and contribute proactively to improving drawing quality and project delivery efficiency. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and coordinating CAD drawings, managing layer standards and coordinate systems, supporting BIM model quality processes, and collaborating with engineers and multidisciplinary teams. Additional responsibilities include participating in project meetings, maintaining meeting minutes, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across CAD and BIM workflows. Ideal candidates should possess a Diploma or Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, strong CAD/BIM technical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Experience in environmental, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary engineering projects and a willingness to learn Civil 3D contouring workflows will be considered an advantage. Your Role Responsibilities A CAD-focused person who must meet the following criteria: Proficient in importing air photos or images into CAD Proficient in scaling images and/or know how to scale in general Used to working in both model and paper space Creating drawings from scratch Moving CAD layers into Easting and Northing coordinates, when needed Used to doing small, quick jobs Attention to detail Very good communication and not afraid to ask questions or make suggestions to improve drawing readability Capable of working independently Doesn’t mind entering multiple lines on timesheets Ok with just 2D drawing but open to learning contouring via Civil3D Critical thinker Should be able to maintain BIM model quality processes. Should have experience in understanding the coordination process with engineers. Able to attend meetings with internal and external clients and maintain the Minutes of meetings. Coordination of CAD and BIM model input to multi-disciplinary projects. Should be well-versed in AutoCAD. Creative thinker with a can-do attitude. About You Requirements Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Work independently and take proactive initiative. Competent to check the work. Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks on time and within cost. Qualification Diploma/Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. BIM Designer with a relevant Diploma as required. Delivering CAD/BIM work with minimal supervision.
