National Medical Director.

FULL TIMEREMOTELEADERSHIP

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a National Medical Director based in the United States.

We are seeking an accomplished National Medical Director to lead clinical strategy and drive measurable improvements in healthcare outcomes for Medicare patients. In this fully remote, full-time leadership role, you will take ownership of clinical performance across the patient population, focusing on preventing avoidable hospitalizations, emergency room visits, falls, and functional decline. Applying a comprehensive geriatric approach, you will identify the underlying factors affecting patients' health and develop scalable programs that address their needs. You will work closely with clinicians, care advocates, operations, and technology teams to translate clinical insights into practical care protocols. This is a high-autonomy opportunity for a decisive medical leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and is motivated by measurable patient impact. You will also help shape clinical standards and ensure technology-enabled care remains safe, effective, and compliant.

Accountabilities

    • Define and own key clinical outcome metrics, including hospital readmissions, emergency room utilization, and patient falls.

    • Establish measurable performance targets, develop improvement strategies, and report clinical results on a weekly basis.

    • Design root-cause intervention programs using the geriatric 5Ms framework: Mind, Mobility, Medications, Multicomplexity, and Matters Most.

    • Develop initiatives addressing polypharmacy, cognitive decline, frailty, and preventable hospital admissions.

    • Rapidly launch, evaluate, refine, and scale clinical programs based on measurable results.

    • Translate successful interventions into standardized protocols for clinicians and Care Advocates to implement consistently.

    • Establish clinical standards for patient visits, care plans, and documentation.

    • Review and approve clinical content within the organization's products, including AI-assisted workflows, ensuring appropriate clinical safeguards.

    • Partner with operations and billing teams to ensure accurate clinical documentation and compliance with CMS requirements.

    • Represent the organization's clinical perspective in discussions with healthcare payers and regulatory stakeholders.

    • Take ownership of clinical challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive solutions with urgency and accountability.

    • Requirements:

      • MD degree from a leading U.S. medical school.

      • Previous experience as a Chief Medical Officer at a telehealth startup, with a documented record of improving measurable clinical outcomes.

      • Demonstrated success reducing hospital readmissions, avoidable emergency room utilization, or improving other relevant patient health outcomes.

      • Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

      • Additional certification or fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine.

      • Active, unrestricted medical license.

      • Proven experience developing and implementing programs that address the underlying causes of health decline in older adults, supported by measurable results.

      • Strong understanding of geriatric care, with a holistic approach focused on patient function, individual goals, and complex health needs.

      • Decisive leadership style, with the ability to act quickly, adapt to ambiguity, and continuously improve programs.

      • Strong ownership mentality, sound judgment, and willingness to take responsibility for both clinical and operational challenges.

      • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to establish clear standards and maintain high expectations.

        • Experience working with Medicare and Medicare Advantage populations.

        • Familiarity with value-based care models and performance-driven healthcare programs.

        • Experience managing care-management initiatives such as Chronic Care Management (CCM), Advanced Primary Care Management (APCM), Community Health Integration (CHI), and Principal Illness Navigation (PIN).

        • Experience establishing clinical guidelines, safeguards, and oversight frameworks for AI-powered healthcare tools.

        • Benefits:

          • Full-time, permanent W-2 employment.

          • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States.

          • Employee benefits are provided as part of the employment arrangement.

          • Specific details regarding salary, healthcare coverage, paid leave, and additional benefits are not provided in the job description.

          • Opportunity to lead national clinical initiatives and directly influence measurable outcomes for Medicare patients.
