Executive Director of Diligence.

FULL TIMEREMOTELEADERSHIPFINANCE & LEGAL$175K–180K/YR

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Executive Director of Diligence based in the United States .

The Executive Director of Diligence will lead high-stakes institutional client relationships and oversee the quality and delivery of mortgage due diligence outcomes. Working closely with the Chief Lending Officer, you will serve as a trusted senior representative for major investors and financial institutions throughout the full diligence lifecycle. You will provide final oversight of loan portfolio reviews, ensure securitization compliance, and maintain the accuracy and acceptance of critical transaction documentation. This role combines deep mortgage capital markets expertise with exceptional client leadership, commercial judgment, and hands-on deal execution. You will also help shape the strategic direction and capabilities of a growing diligence business, with opportunities to strengthen market relationships and support technology-enabled operations.

Accountabilities

    • Own institutional client relationships from beginning to end, serving as the primary contact for major investors and financial institutions and managing communications, escalations, and overall relationship health.

    • Review and provide final approval of due diligence results for loan portfolios before findings are delivered to clients.

    • Oversee securitization compliance, ensuring all diligence deliverables meet applicable SEC reporting requirements and rating agency standards for approved transactions.

    • Author, review, and manage reliance letters, taking responsibility for their accuracy, timely delivery, and acceptance by institutional clients.

    • Serve as the primary liaison with rating agencies, maintaining strong relationships and supporting continued approval across all five major agencies.

    • Contribute directly to transaction execution when required, working alongside the diligence team to meet demanding deal timelines and service-level agreements.

    • Represent the diligence function in external client engagements, building trusted, long-term relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals.

    • Partner with senior leadership to define the strategy, capabilities, and market positioning of the diligence business as it grows.

    • Provide authoritative guidance on complex diligence matters, supporting consistent quality, sound decision-making, and strong institutional confidence.

    • Requirements:

      • 10+ years of experience in mortgage due diligence, quality control, or capital markets diligence operations.

      • Established relationships with Wall Street institutional investors and a strong professional reputation within the mortgage capital markets industry.

      • Hands-on experience using LoanMac, Lauramac, or comparable third-party loan review and diligence platforms.

      • Deep understanding of mortgage securitization requirements, SEC compliance obligations, and rating agency guidelines.

      • Extensive experience preparing, reviewing, and delivering reliance letters accepted by major institutional investors.

      • Proven ability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive diligence engagements for sophisticated institutional clients.

      • Strong knowledge of mortgage transaction processes and the documentation and quality standards required to support securitization.

      • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to lead client calls, prepare precise written deliverables, and engage confidently with executive stakeholders.

      • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to remain composed and decisive in complex, high-pressure situations.

      • A high level of commitment, flexibility, and willingness to work demanding hours when required by fast-moving transaction cycles.

      • Strategic thinking and a collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute to business development and operational improvements.

      • Benefits:

        • Annual salary: $175,000–$180,000 USD.

        • Flexible work approach, allowing employees to work from home, an office, or another suitable location.

        • Paid time off as needed.

        • Comprehensive insurance coverage.

        • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.

        • Stock option grants.

        • Employee stock purchase plan.

        • Employee ownership opportunities, allowing team members to share in the company's growth.
