FULL TIMEREMOTEFINANCE & LEGAL

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business System Analyst (Tax & Customers) based in Germany.

Join a growing fintech product team building an advanced tax engine designed to simplify global tax compliance for internet businesses.
As a Business System Analyst, you will play a key role in translating business needs into clear technical requirements and scalable product solutions.
You will work at the intersection of product, engineering, and finance, contributing to complex integrations and merchant-facing features.
Your responsibilities will include analyzing APIs, mapping data flows, defining product logic, and ensuring development teams have clear specifications.
You will help shape solutions covering tax registration, calculation, nexus monitoring, filing, and remittance across the US, Canada, and Europe.
Working alongside experienced product leaders and engineers, you will have the opportunity to influence a growing product domain.
This position also offers a structured career path toward Product Management, supported by direct mentorship and hands-on experience.

Accountabilities

As the first dedicated analyst within the Tax & Customers domain, you will take ownership of requirements, system analysis, and documentation to help accelerate product development. Your main responsibilities will include:

    • Translate product ideas and business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and development-ready specifications.

    • Analyze internal and third-party APIs, identify integration requirements, and document system interactions.

    • Map data flows and support the design of scalable product architectures and integrations.

    • Collaborate with Product Managers and engineers to shape merchant-facing features, including tax registration, nexus monitoring, calculations, and filing workflows.

    • Investigate complex business scenarios, clarify product logic, identify edge cases, and eliminate ambiguity before development begins.

    • Work closely with engineering, product, and finance teams to ensure alignment on requirements and expected outcomes.

    • Maintain accurate and structured documentation covering product requirements, system behavior, and business logic.

    • Contribute to product discovery and continuously improve existing processes and solutions.

    • Requirements

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with technical knowledge and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and engineering teams. You should bring:

      • 1–2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or System Analyst within a product-oriented company.

      • Hands-on experience collaborating with engineering teams and working with third-party API integrations.

      • Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, system interactions, and data flow analysis.

      • Strong requirements-gathering and documentation skills, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge-case analysis.

      • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, diagramming tools, and basic SQL.

      • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

      • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, clarify complex requirements, and bridge technical and business needs.

      • Upper-Intermediate English proficiency or higher.

      • Strong motivation to develop toward a Product Manager position.

      • Additional experience that would be considered an advantage:

        • Background in fintech, payments, billing, SaaS, or other complex product environments.

        • Familiarity with tax compliance concepts such as VAT, sales tax, nexus monitoring, and tax filing.

        • Exposure to product management practices, product discovery, or product development processes.

        • Benefits

          • Clear career progression: Opportunity to transition into a Product Manager role within 12–18 months.

          • Direct mentorship: Work closely with an experienced Group Product Manager who will support your professional development.

          • High-impact responsibilities: Take ownership of a growing product domain and contribute to building scalable solutions.

          • Modern technology environment: Work on a recently rebuilt system with minimal technical debt, combining in-house tax capabilities with third-party integrations.

          • Specialized expertise: Develop valuable knowledge of international tax compliance, fintech infrastructure, billing systems, and complex API integrations.

          • Strong engineering culture: Collaborate with an experienced engineering team that emphasizes technical design discussions, code reviews, testing practices, metrics, alerts, and automated CI/CD.

          • Global professional network: Become part of an international entrepreneurial ecosystem through a global community of high-impact businesses.

          • Growth environment: Join a rapidly scaling fintech product organization with opportunities to expand your responsibilities and influence.
