Waste Connections is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Fremont, NE. This role is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on fleet equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and takes pride in keeping equipment in top working condition. Schedule & Compensation Shift: Monday–Friday, 7am-5pm and Saturdays following a Holiday Pay Rate: $24-$27 per hour (based on experience) Key Responsibilities Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Conduct oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and basic mechanical adjustments Identify potential mechanical issues and communicate findings to lead mechanics or supervisors Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records Utilize vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment. Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns. Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
