HR Consultant, Employee Relations & Workplace Investigations (Remote)

Trüpp HR, a member of the Skillcloud (SCG) family of companies, is looking for an HR Consultant to join our growing Employee Relations and Workplace Investigations practice. This role is for someone who does their best work in complicated situations: asking the right questions, staying neutral when it matters most, and producing written work that holds up under scrutiny.

The HR Consultant plays a lead role in serving clients across the U.S. on employee relations and workplace investigation matters. You'll conduct impartial investigations into sensitive workplace concerns, advise client leaders through difficult employee situations, and deliver clear, well-reasoned, defensible work product. You'll also support HR consulting projects, providing variety and valuable expertise to our clients.

Benefits

    • Executive leadership exposure, succession opportunities, strategic project ownership, and the opportunity to work with small, mid-size and large fortune 500 clients.

    • Access to a supportive team and professional resources.

    • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with Employer-sponsored life insurance.

    • 401(k) retirement savings plan with Company match.

    • Flexible paid time off with a responsible-use approach that supports work-life balance.

    • Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities including paid SHRM membership and continuing education allowances.

    • Full time flexible hours within a remote work environment supporting clients nationwide.

    • Robust reward and recognition program.

    • Exempt salary between $78k – $92k plus incentive-based compensation rewards.

What You Bring

    • 1 to 3 years of experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, or a similar HR consulting role.

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required, or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.

    • AWI-CH, licensed private investigator, or other investigations-related credentials a plus.

    • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and producing written investigation reports strongly preferred.

    • Sufficient working conditions, including high-speed internet and an environment where confidential phone calls and virtual meetings can occur without interruption.

    • Strong expertise in HCM platforms, HRIS systems and advanced technology with proficiency with Microsoft Office and other productivity tools.

    • Effective and responsible use of AI-enabled tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of your work, consistent with company policies, with full accountability for the accuracy and integrity of every deliverable.

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

    • A thorough understanding of employment laws, regulations, and investigation best practices.

    • Strong investigative writing skills: accurate to the record, free of unverified attributions, with analysis that is complete, logical, and defensible.

    • Sound judgment in weighing evidence and assessing credibility in ambiguous or contested situations.

    • Comfort and adaptability engaging with client legal teams, executives, and other senior stakeholders, including defending well-supported findings under thoughtful questioning.

    • Composure, empathy, and professionalism in emotionally charged circumstances, with appropriate boundaries and consistent neutrality.

    • Strong client management skills and a friendly, professional, resolution-oriented communication style.

    • The ability to organize and prioritize multiple active matters in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

    • Absolute discretion with confidential and sensitive information.

What You’ll Do

    • Serve as a strategic HR consultant and primary contact for assigned client accounts, delivering proactive, solutions-oriented guidance aligned with each client’s business objectives.

    • Plan and conduct thorough, impartial workplace investigations into complaints including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations, in compliance with applicable laws and client policies.

    • Conduct effective investigative interviews of complainants, respondents, and witnesses, and accurately document testimony.

    • Analyze documentary and testimonial evidence, make well-reasoned credibility assessments where accounts conflict, and reach findings of fact supported by the record.

    • Prepare clear, accurate, and defensible written investigation reports that withstand scrutiny by legal counsel, agencies, or courts.

    • Present and discuss investigation findings with client stakeholders, including in-house and outside legal counsel when required, clearly explaining the evidentiary basis for conclusions and responding to questions with confidence and composure.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients on employee relations matters, including workplace conflict, complaints, performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

    • Advise client managers and leaders through sensitive employee situations in a manner that is fair, consistent, legally sound, and aligned with each client's culture.

    • Guide clients through corrective action and performance improvement processes, including drafting and reviewing related documentation.

    • Identify patterns in employee relations matters that may signal broader organizational issues, and recommend improvements that strengthen engagement and retention.

    • Support ad hoc HR consulting projects, including compliance advising, HR audits, and handbook and policy work.
