Job Title Process Engineer Position Overview Shaw Industries is seeking a driven, hands-on Process Engineer to support our Tufting operations in Cartersville, GA across Plants 12 and 13. This role is a great fit for someone who is naturally curious, takes initiative, and enjoys being out in the manufacturing environment identifying problems, digging into root causes, and driving solutions. We are looking for someone who does not wait to be told what needs attention. The right person will take ownership, make sound decisions with confidence, and work across teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, waste, and cost. Just as important as technical ability is leadership potential. You do not have to have years of formal management experience, but you should be able to show examples of taking the lead, influencing others, driving a project or team toward a goal, and holding yourself accountable for results. That leadership experience may have been gained in a manufacturing environment, through workforce leadership, or by leading significant projects during college. Based on experience, this position may be filled as a Process Engineer or Sr. Process Engineer. What You'll Do Serve as a proactive technical resource for Tufting operations, identifying opportunities and driving improvements in safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, waste, and cost. Spend time on the manufacturing floor observing processes, identifying issues and opportunities, and partnering with operators, mechanics, and supervisors to develop solutions. Monitor the safety and performance of Tufting and BST processes and take initiative to address concerns and opportunities. Support troubleshooting of manufacturing processes and equipment, using sound judgment and data to make timely decisions. Lead root-cause analysis for off-quality conditions, process variation, downtime, and customer concerns, and help implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions. Monitor Tufting running conditions to ensure consistent production of first-quality products. Monitor product changes and startups, proactively identifying potential risks and helping prevent off-quality production. Partner with the lab to address out-of-specification quality conditions and drive timely resolution. Coach and support mechanics, operators, and supervisors around safety, process performance, productivity, and operational best practices. Build operational and technical knowledge across the team by improving procedures and helping associates respond effectively to out-of-specification conditions. Lead weekly process control meetings and participate in Quality Improvement Team meetings. Write and modify standard procedures and process documentation in SMS. Participate in customer feedback calls and customer visits as needed. Support Tufting and BST associates and leaders across both Cartersville manufacturing facilities. What We're Looking For Beyond the technical qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings a strong sense of ownership and personal drive. The strongest candidates will be people who: Take initiative. You see a problem or an opportunity and go after it rather than waiting for someone else to assign it. Make confident decisions. You are comfortable gathering the facts, using good judgment, making a decision, and moving forward. Are motivated by results. You enjoy setting a goal, working through obstacles, and seeing measurable improvement. Get into the process. You are curious about how equipment and manufacturing processes work and want to understand why something is happening, not simply fix the immediate symptom. Lead and influence others. You can bring people together around a problem, communicate clearly, and help move a team toward a solution. Own problems through resolution. You are willing to follow an issue from identification and root cause through implementation and sustained results. Are self-motivated. You can recognize what needs to be done, prioritize your work, and keep things moving without constant direction. Leadership Competencies Success in this role will require the ability to: Plan and Organize Demonstrate Good Judgment Drive Results Coach and Support Build Trusting Relationships Requirements Four (4) year degree in a relevant technical field. At least one (1) year experience in a manufacturing environment or its equivalent. Must possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Previous leadership experience preferred. Leadership experience can take different forms. We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated the ability to lead others or drive results, whether through manufacturing/workforce leadership or significant team and project leadership experience during college.
