About Tapestry

Tapestry is a group within Google working to build the AI-powered electric grid. We are tackling one of the world’s most important infrastructure challenges: helping the energy system become more visible, understandable, reliable, affordable, abundant, and clean.

Originally born at X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory, Tapestry brings together experts in energy, AI, software engineering, and products to build tools that help the electricity ecosystem plan smarter, move faster, and operate more efficiently.

This is a global effort. Tapestry supports partners across the U.S., U.K., Chile, New Zealand, Australia, and Brazil as they work toward a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Joining Tapestry means doing high-impact work with a multidisciplinary team tackling a problem that matters at global scale. Learn more about our team and our mission here.

How you will make 10X Impact

  • Develop strategic technology partnerships: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with simulation software providers, engineering technology companies, and other external partners that support Tapestry’s technical objectives.
  • Translate technical needs into partnership opportunities: Work closely with power systems engineers, software engineers, and product teams to understand technical requirements and identify external solutions that support product development.
  • Advance simulation and software capabilities: Develop partnerships that expand access to relevant engineering software, simulation technologies, technical expertise, and data resources.
  • Lead commercial agreements: Structure and negotiate software licensing, technology access, and partnership agreements in collaboration with Legal, Procurement, and technical stakeholders.
  • Manage partnership execution: Coordinate technical evaluations, partner deliverables, implementation requirements, and ongoing agreements to ensure partnerships support engineering priorities.
  • Build lasting external relationships: Develop trusted relationships with technology providers and industry partners, identifying opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration beyond individual transactions.
  • Establish operational accountability: Maintain clear ownership, documentation, and visibility across partnership commitments, licensing arrangements, renewals, and deliverables.

What you should have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in technical partnerships, strategic alliances, technology business development, or software licensing within technical or engineering-focused organizations.
  • Strong understanding of power systems, energy technologies, engineering software, or related technical ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and managing complex technology partnerships or commercial agreements.
  • Ability to collaborate directly with engineers and product teams, understand technical requirements, and translate them into actionable partnership opportunities.
  • Experience managing multiple external relationships and coordinating agreements, deliverables, and ongoing partner commitments.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, commercial, and legal functions.
  • A hands-on, structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and drive work to completion.

It’d be great if you also had one or more of these:

  • Experience with power systems simulation, grid modeling, or engineering software platforms.
  • Familiarity with utilities, data center technology, energy technology providers, or original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Experience developing partnerships involving technical data, software integrations, or collaborative technology development.
