The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the backend services that handle payment flows and identity checks as a product moves into live production use. The work covers security, reliability, compliance controls and performance, with an emphasis on correctness and recoverability.
What you'll do
- Build protective controls into the code itself, keeping sensitive card data scope small and covering credentials, permissions, activity records and attack analysis.
- Manage cloud infrastructure as code, along with automated build and deployment pipelines, staged releases and rollback procedures.
- Ensure payment authorization, settlement and reconciliation logic is safe to retry, traceable and easy to recover.
- Set and monitor reliability targets, add instrumentation, prevent outages and write clear operational runbooks.
- Improve response times on the transaction path and reduce the cost of each transaction.
- Set architecture direction, write production code and take on-call responsibility for the systems you ship.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Experience building backend systems that other engineers and teams rely on.
- Solid grasp of keeping operations correct when things fail, including repeat-safe requests, retries, distributed state and failure modes.
- Everyday safety habits: limiting access to what is needed, handling credentials with care, keeping activity records and anticipating how a system could be attacked.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code.
- Proficiency in TypeScript or Python.
- Clear written communication about incidents, root causes and fixes.
- Availability to work roughly six days a week, Sunday through Friday.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.

- Base salary: USD 140,000 to 300,000 per year
