The Clinical Trials Nurse will be responsible for completing study activities, ensuring research compliance, and work with the study team to ensure study milestones and operations are being met. We are looking for a highly motivated, outgoing individual who is able to work within a team and is familiar with the Emergency Department environment. This position is integral to the success of our rapidly expanding research program. The successful candidate will have experience as a nurse and clinical research. What we are looking for: You are a nurse who works within an interprofessional team, you also have excellent knowledge in patient management and experience with clinical trials. You will work closely with various Research Assistants, Coordinators, Principal Investigators, and clinical staff. Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Office of Research and working closely with the PREPARED Principal Investigator, you will: Recruit study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects) Obtain informed consent for the research study Person study activities, such as NP swabs, point-of-care testing, and data collection Coordinate patient visits and follow-ups as per the study protocol Execute aspects of the study, such as adverse events, monitoring safety, data collection, sample collection, and processing and shipment of samples. Maintain source documentation, as per Oak Valley Health policy and ICH/GCP guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance Review medical charts as necessary Conduct training sessions for health care professionals and clinical staff as needed for the clinical trial Participate in study meetings, department meetings, monitoring visits and close-out-visits as needed. Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required What you bring to Oak Valley Health: Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1 (one) year’s experience, preferably specializing in Emergency Medicine At minimum, 1 (one) year research experience Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures is an asset Demonstrated skill of performing NP swabs and point-of-care testing Strong knowledge of clinical research terminology. Strong attention to detail. Excellent written/verbal communication skills. Exceptional organizational, time management and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, and excellent multi-tasking ability. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative fast-paced team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and the ability to learn other applications. Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines, Tri Council Policy and PHIPPA Knowledge of REB submissions and ethical consideration/guidelines Exercises judgment and decision making, using established policies and procedures to resolve technical problems Work Schedule: Work Schedule: Casual, Days - Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet needs of the department. This position will include approximately 18.75 hours per week (flexibility to meet study demands) Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.
