This role would embed specialty palliative care expertise within cancer services. The physician will practice primarily in an ambulatory setting, delivering specialty palliative care to a subset of patients receiving care in the cancer center. There will also be an opportunity to complete inpatient consultations in close collaboration with the larger palliative care program. There would also be an opportunity to pursue research and quality improvement initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to strengthen the level of support that children with cancer and their families receive. The role would work closely with, and be supported by, a robust interdisciplinary team within the larger palliative care and oncology programs to include social work, pastoral care, pharmacy, nursing, and grief support. In addition, there is an excellent home hospice organization that delivers concurrent care hospice in every part of the state through a pediatric dedicated team.
