What You'll Do
- Provide daily care for hospitalized patients and boarding pets, including feeding, walking, bathing, cleaning, and administering medications as directed.
- Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary kennels, treatment areas, and common hospital spaces through routine cleaning and disinfection.
- Monitor patients and boarding animals, keeping accurate records of medications, special diets, appetite, behavior, and any changes or concerns.
- Assist with post-operative patient care and provide comfort and attention to animals recovering from veterinary procedures.
- Support veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants with animal restraint, examinations, and other patient care needs.
- Restock hospital supplies and help maintain an organized, well-prepared work environment.
- Learn to clean and sterilize surgical instruments and maintain proper infection-control practices.
- Communicate patient needs, observations, and concerns to the veterinary team to help ensure consistent, quality care.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine love for animals and a patient, compassionate approach when working with sick, scared, or injured pets.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic knowledge of animal care, cleaning, and disinfecting methods, or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to safely handle and restrain animals with guidance and proper training.
- Willingness to learn medication administration and recognize changes in an animal's condition or behavior.
- Dependability, a positive attitude, and the ability to work cooperatively with a busy veterinary team.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting pet food and litter bags, and safely handling dogs of various sizes.
Previous kennel, boarding, animal care, or veterinary experience is a plus, but we're happy to train someone with the right attitude and a strong desire to learn!
