Veterinary Care Assistant.

FULL TIME

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Kernow Vets on a par-time permanent basis.

We are a mixed team here at Kernow Farm & Equine. Some of our vets carry out solely farm work, others purely equine with a range in between.

You will be based at our equine practice in St Columb, Cornwall. However, some travel to the Bodmin practice, livery yards and stables where required

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely.

Working under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll support inpatient care, assist with patient handling and restraint, help maintain clinical areas and equipment, and contribute to a positive and compassionate experience for both patients and clients.

There may be appointments that you need to attend to assist the vet, so a strong stomach may be useful. The majority of your day will be office based, so a there will be a degree of general administration tasks too.

This role will work alongside a great team of individuals, so the ability to work with others is essential. We are looking for someone with initiative and motivation to support a great team of vets and who has a strong sense of team spirit and a good sense of humour!

Use of your own vehicle is essential as you will be required to transport equipment between sites and vets, and attend home clinical visits.

Essential skills required for this role include:

* Full Driving License
* Use of your own vehicle
* GCSE’s grade four or above in Maths and English
* Reliable
* Great attention to detail
* Flexible
* Punctual & Self Motivated
* Good customer service/communication skills
* Must be able to follow direction as well as work independently
* A “can do” attitude & strong work ethic
* Experience and/or knowledge within the veterinary, equine or agricultural sector
* Desirable Skill – SQP Qualified

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a reliable and motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a team and is keen to develop within a veterinary environment. You’ll bring:

* A caring, professional approach with a genuine interest in animal welfare
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively in a busy environment
* A proactive attitude to learning, with openness to feedback and development
* Experience of working with animals in either a clinical or non-clinical setting would be advantageous
