Who We Are Looking For State Street Investment Management is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineering Lead to join our Investment Analytics Application Development team. The ideal candidate brings strong financial domain knowledge and deep technical expertise, with experience building and supporting systems that process, analyze, and deliver investment and financial data for portfolio management, research, risk, and reporting use cases. While experience with performance measurement and attribution is important, this role is broader in scope and suited for engineers who understand financial data holistically—returns, holdings, benchmarks, market data, and analytics workflows. You will work closely with portfolio managers, investment researchers, and technology partners to translate complex financial concepts into scalable, high‑quality solutions built on Databricks in AWS. This role is hands‑on and requires independent ownership of design and implementation. What you will be responsible for Lead the transformation of the Performance Attribution Platform by building scalable, cloud-native, accelerating AI adoption, and enabling data-driven investment decisions across all asset classes. This role combines engineering leadership, architecture, investment domain expertise, and delivery excellence to create next-generation capabilities for portfolio managers portfolio strategists, client reporting, and investment teams. Platform Strategy Define and execute the roadmap for a unified performance attribution platform supporting all asset classes. Drive platform simplification, modernization, and cloud-native transformation. Partner with Investments, Client Reporting, Data, and AI leaders to deliver strategic business outcomes. AI & Innovation Enable AI-powered performance attribution workflows that improve productivity, insight generation, and investment outcomes. Drive adoption of Generative AI, Agentic AI, intelligent search, workflow automation, and advanced analytics. Establish scalable and governed AI foundations for performance attribution teams. Engineering & Delivery Leadership Architect and deliver scalable, secure, enterprise-grade solutions leveraging modern cloud and data platforms. Lead strategic transformation programs from concept through production. Build reusable platform capabilities that accelerate onboarding, analytics, model development, and AI enablement. Establish engineering excellence through modern development practices, automation, DevOps, and operational rigor. Leadership & Talent Development Lead and inspire an elite engineering team with a culture of ownership, urgency, innovation, and accountability. Coach future leaders through candid feedback, mentorship, and continuous learning. Build strong global partnerships across business, performance attribution, vendor, and technology organizations. Required Qualifications Technical Expertise 15+ years of software engineering, data engineering, or platform engineering experience. 5+ years leading engineering teams and large-scale delivery programs. Strong architecture and design experience across modern data ecosystems. Deep expertise in: Databricks Data Warehousing ETL/ELT Design & Development Data Modeling Lakehouse Architectures Distributed Data Processing Strong programming experience in: Python (preferred) Apache Spark / PySpark SQL Unix/Shell Scripting Experience with one or more cloud providers: AWS Performance attribution & Data Platform Experience Proven experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms. Delivered at least two large-scale modernization or transformation programs. Strong understanding of performance attribution workflows, performance attribution data, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled performance attribution capabilities. Experience working with leading market data and performance attribution providers including Bloomberg, FactSet and other industry data providers. Knowledge of vendor onboarding, entitlements, licensing, benchmark data, holdings, fundamentals, market data, and performance attribution content ecosystems.
