What are SolidFlow batteries?
SolidFlow batteries store energy in organic molecules. The absence of explosive materials makes them safe, the use of socially and ecologically conflict-free raw materials makes them sustainable and the almost unlimited availability of materials makes them scalable and cheap to procure. This makes our patented SolidFlow technology a game changer in the development of a global climate-neutral energy system.
From start-up to scale-up: we're tackling it together
CMBlu Energy is developing from a start-up focussing on research into a manufacturing scale-up that is on its way to series production. Around 240 employees are working towards this goal at CMBlu Energy. Our head office is in Alzenau near Frankfurt, with a branch office in Obernburg. There are also subsidiaries in Athens, Greece and Petaluma, USA.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan, execute and evaluate compounding trials – from experimental design to statistical analysis and clear, well-documented conclusions.
- Develop and optimize recipe formulations: select conductive additives and binders to drive electrochemical performance and mechanical stability of the product.
- Characterize our products mechanically, physically and electrochemically, and link the measured properties back to formulation and process parameters.
- Build up process understanding quickly for new and existing processes: identify which process parameters influence the target properties of the product, and how.
- Drive scale-up from lab to product: transfer processes and material properties across different machine sizes and support the transition towards series production.
- Apply statistical methods – Design of Experiments (DoE), Bayesian optimization and data-driven evaluation – to develop and optimize formulations and processes efficiently.
- Work closely with our R&D departments, product development, production and external partners from industry and academia and contribute to an agile way of working.
Your Profile
- Masters Degree in physics, materials science, materials engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering or a comparable field.
- Professional background in battery or energy storage industry (material, product or process development) preferable
- Analytical mindset and a real enjoyment of data evaluation: Experience with statistical data analysis, Design of Experiments (DoE) and ideally Bayesian optimization.
- Experience with electrochemical testing and evaluation – or the openness and curiosity to learn these skills with us.
- Scale-up thinking: experience or strong interest in transferring processes and material properties from lab scale to larger machine sizes.
- Experience with agile ways of working and project management – or the willingness to learn them.
- Willingness to go on business trips (up to 20%).
- Fluent English; German is a strong advantage.
