WHAT YOU’LL DO The primary responsibility of the Cashier/Host is to accurately handle cash register transactions and ensure guests are greeted cheerfully and seated in a timely manner. They also serve as the restaurant’s first and last impression and must make sure guests thoroughly enjoy their dining experience. ROLE EXPECTATIONS Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Greet customers in a prompt and courteous manner and thank them upon departure. Determine the number in a party, accurately post transaction on cash register, and make appropriate change. Seat as quickly as possible. If there is a waiting period, ensure the guest has maximum comfort at all times. Properly rotate server stations when seating guests (requires knowledge of server abilities). Assist service staff in making certain tables are cleared and cleaned after each use and are set properly. Make sure all areas are clean and free of debris. Fill condiments as needed. Answer telephones using proper phone etiquette as described in CET standards. Count out cash drawer at end of shift. Perform opening and closing duties based upon shift assignment. Ensure all Rio Hotel & Casino core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. REQUIREMENTS Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner. Must present a neat and professional appearance. Work requires attention to detail and accuracy. Work requires interactions with customers, the public and co-workers. Work requires use of a computer and/or cash register. Ability to obtain & maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures. At least 21 years of age. Ability to obtain & maintain full knowledge and understanding of the venues Menu. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines. Must regularly lift and/move up to 25 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
