About the Retail team
In the Retail team, we build the services and experiences behind the buying and selling journey on one of Australia’s largest automotive marketplaces. We’re a team of product engineers: we start from the customer problem, and we own the solution from the interface through to the .NET services and AWS infrastructure behind it.
We’re looking for a senior full stack engineer who is just as comfortable in C#/.NET as in React and TypeScript, and who wants a real say in what we build, not just how we build it.
What you'll do
- Design, build and run features across the stack, from React and TypeScript interfaces to C#/.NET services on AWS
- Own what you ship in production, including reliability, observability, performance and responding when things break
- Work with product and design to understand customer problems and shape solutions, and push back with evidence when the trade-offs warrant it
- Drive projects from idea to delivery with minimal direction, making and documenting sound design decisions along the way
- Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code review and feedback
- Be involved in all aspects of software engineering practice, including breaking down work, code review, testing, source control and build processes
- Create and enhance team culture by sharing your knowledge and ideas, and by giving and receiving constructive feedback
What we're looking for
- Senior experience as a full stack engineer, with real depth in both C#/.NET services and React with TypeScript
- Experience designing, deploying and supporting production services on AWS, and the system design judgement that comes with it
- A product engineering mindset: you start from the customer problem and have helped shape products, not just deliver tickets
- You’re self-sufficient, drive your own work, and enjoy helping less experienced engineers grow
- A quality-first approach, including automated testing and CI/CD
- Inclusive and interpersonal attributes that connect you to our behaviours: we change the game, we own it, we step in, we are curious, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously
Nice to have
- Node.js in production
- Event-driven systems using queues and messaging, such as SQS, SNS or RabbitMQ
- Next.js or another modern React framework
- Experience on high-traffic consumer or e-commerce platforms
We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
