Location: Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) Shift: Rotation (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Worker Type: Regular Exemption Status: Yes Job Summary: Geisinger's Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing practice at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center located in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. Job Duties: Join our collaborative cardiothoracic surgery team and play a key role in guiding patients through every stage of their surgical journey, from initial evaluation to postoperative recovery. In this role, you will: Evaluate and prepare patients for cardiothoracic surgery in partnership with cardiac surgeons. Coordinate preoperative testing, surgical scheduling, medical clearances, and patient education. Manage outpatient referrals and participate in Heart Team discussions for valve and structural heart patients. Round on postoperative cardiac surgery patients and assist with ongoing inpatient management. Coordinate discharges, follow-up care, and recovery planning. Conduct postoperative visits and manage patient questions, phone calls, and portal messages.
