Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication, throughout the Hospital as assigned. Essential Functions Practicing safe lifting and techniques, transports patients by assisting patients in and out of cars, lifting patients on and off beds, moving patients to and from special services and treatment areas using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds. Transports medications, patient charts, specimens, and blood appropriately as directed. Transports bodies to the morgue and assists in placing them in the cooler. Assists in moving bodies to the autopsy table. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities provided. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent Successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training. Experience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment is desired. CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required Preferred Experience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment is desired.
