Responsibilities: The University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) is looking for its next Experimental Operations Technician. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn, exceptionally reliable, and attentive to details. Here at LLE, we take pride in being a national resource for research and education in both science and technology! Our focus is on using lasers to create fusion energy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Load/unload X-Ray film and image plate cartridges used in nuclear physics experiments. Process photographic film and image plate. Maintain film processing equipment and chemistry. Support the operation of various equipment and diagnostics related to laser physics experiments Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and optical issues Perform regular preventative maintenance Maintain complex vacuum systems Troubleshoot equipment issues. Qualify as a NYS Radiation Worker Maintain radiological containment areas Create and update system documentation and procedures. Morning and Evening shift work is required. MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Associate's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 1 year of relevant experience in a technical position required Or equivalent combination of education and experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software operation required Ability to work in a cleanroom environment required.
