Estimator - Commercial Drywall & Metal Framing.

FULL TIME

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator with a background in interior construction, particularly commercial drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical ceilings, and flooring, to join our team. In this role, you will prepare accurate cost estimates, develop competitive bids, and coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and our internal teams throughout the preconstruction process.

We are looking for someone with direct commercial interior construction estimating experience, strong technical knowledge of interior building systems, and the ability to manage multiple bids while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for commercial drywall, metal framing, ceiling systems, flooring, and interior build-out projects.
  • Review blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid revisions to determine project scope and material quantities.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, pricing discrepancies, and potential budget risks before bid submission.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals, compare pricing, and verify that all required scope items are covered.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid packages with detailed cost breakdowns, scope descriptions, assumptions, exclusions, and alternate options.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate alternative materials or construction methods while maintaining our quality and specification requirements.
  • Coordinate with our project managers and field teams, as well as general contractors, suppliers, and clients, to clarify project scope and validate pricing.
  • Maintain cost databases, supplier pricing records, historical estimates, and organized bid documentation.
  • Develop preliminary budgets, negotiated pricing, change-order estimates, and revised bids as project requirements evolve.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and post-bid discussions.
  • Transition awarded estimates to our project teams, providing detailed cost breakdowns and documented assumptions.
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting bid submission deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our estimating procedures and historical cost tracking to support pricing accuracy and consistency.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of commercial estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior construction trades.
  • Direct experience estimating commercial interior construction projects is required.
  • Strong knowledge of drywall systems, metal stud assemblies, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and interior build-out methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, construction specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
  • Proven experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed construction estimates.
  • Ability to evaluate subcontractor bids, verify scope coverage, and resolve pricing discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or comparable estimating software.
  • Knowledge of construction labor rates, material costs, equipment expenses, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple bids and deliver accurate estimates under tight deadlines.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • A steady pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Exposure to our diverse drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and flooring projects.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
