The Product Design Engineer is responsible for designing new products and enhancing existing ones by translating Sales and Marketing functional specifications into robust engineering solutions. This role applies core engineering principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance. Key responsibilities include performing machine design analyses—covering force, stress, and deflection—and developing components that meet structural and functional requirements. The engineer must have a strong understanding of mechanical component design, including rolling element bearings, bushings, cams, helical worm gear drives, and bolted joints or connections. This position requires both analytical rigor and practical design insight to ensure reliable, manufacturable, and high‑quality products. Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in SolidWorks 3-D design software or equivalent and experience performing Finite Element Analysis Able to apply engineering principles to develop component and simple system designs to meet specifications Familiar with various molding technologies including investment casting, die casting, injection molding and sand casting Able to develop an accurate project plan Effective written and verbal communication undefined Duties and Responsibilities: Work with cross functional teams to develop new products and conduct design reviews Product engineering activities: troubleshooting performance issues, root cause analysis, and product design enhancements Project planning and implementation using MS Project or similar tools Use SolidWorks 3-D software to build solid models and create cross-sectional layouts.
