About the role

Want to help millions of people think better?

reMarkable makes paper tablets for people who think better on paper. Founded in Oslo in 2013, we’ve created a category of our own: distraction-free devices that combine the feel of pen on paper with the power of digital tools. Our products are used by people all over the world to think, focus and do their best work. We design our hardware, software and services in-house, and we’re a focused, high-ownership team where every role has a direct impact on the product and our customers.

You will be part of the Global ecommerce team, which is responsible for delivering an exceptional shopping experience on remarkable.com, our primary sales channel.

As a Senior Web Developer, you’ll play a key role in building and optimizing our eCommerce platform frontend, from customer experience to internal user experience. Embedded in cross-functional product teams and reporting to the Unit lead, you’ll implement modern designs using a contemporary tech stack, contribute to architectural decisions, champion engineering best practices, and mentor other developers.

Your responsibilities may include

  • Working within cross-functional teams, crafting sophisticated design and modern web that directly engage our users and drive business outcomes

  • Leading the development and optimization of new and existing web applications using our cutting-edge stack: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Sanity, and the latest in modern tooling. You'll be at the forefront of implementing solutions that are performant, scalable and maintainable

  • Improving our architecture by engaging in critical discussions on software architecture, technology selection, and framework adoption, directly influencing the technical roadmap

  • Cultivating engineering culture, lead by example in code quality, and contribute significantly to our CI initiatives

  • Mentoring junior and mid-level developers, help build a collaborative team that thrives on continuous learning and improvement

  • Enhance the efficiency of business users and enable effective tradeoffs across business and technology

  • Drive and impact business results, by optimizing conversion funnels, building new features and improving site performance to directly impact sales and enhance the customer journey

We are looking for candidates with the following experience

  • 4+ years of software development experience

  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React in medium to large-sized codebases

  • Experience with Tailwind CSS

  • Experience collaborating and communicating within cross-functional teams, including UX and visual designers, test automation engineers, and product managers

It would also be beneficial if you have

  • Relevant experience in eCommerce, including familiarity with eCommerce engines

  • Experience as a full-stack developer

  • Experience with Sanity

  • University degree in computer science or a related field

(Don't meet every single requirement? We still encourage you to apply!)

Why we enjoy working at reMarkable

  • Encouragement to learn and grow in a collaborative environment that values technical excellence, learning, and modern technology

  • 5 extra paid “reMarkable days” in addition to regular vacation.

  • Premium health insurance, travel insurance, and home broadband coverage

  • A modern campus located central in Oslo, specially designed to reflect reMarkable as a company

  • Access to a free employee gym with top equipment and towels

  • A flexible hybrid work model

  • Wednesday is Zen-day with no internal meetings to create space for you to focus, deepdive and be creative

  • Access to our employee share incentive scheme.

  • Most importantly: We have fun! We have regular events and social gatherings.

Practical information:

  • We will consider applications on a rolling basis

  • Language requirements: Our company language is English
