FULL TIMEON-SITEJUNIOR LEVELENGINEERING$28–36/HR

Program Overview

MSX International’s Engineering Garage Services (EGS) program supports Hyundai Motor America (HMA) with vehicle repair, diagnostics, labor time studies, and engineering support. Based on-site at HMA headquarters in Fountain Valley, California, the program operates in a lab-grade shop environment with tools provided and an established weekday, first-shift schedule.

As part of the EGS team, the Level 2 & 3 Automotive Technicians perform hands-on repairs and maintenance, assists with labor time study execution and documentation, and prepares fleet, test, and prototype vehicles for engineering evaluations, media introductions, and special events. Working closely with engineers and fellow technicians, this role helps validate repair procedures, investigate vehicle concerns, and maintain accurate service records. The program emphasizes technical accuracy, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement to support HMA’s product quality and vehicle readiness objectives.

Position Summary                                                                                                                                                   Are you the technician everyone turns to when no one else can figure out the problem? Do you thrive on solving complex vehicle issues, mentoring fellow technicians, and making a real impact on customer satisfaction?

At MSX International, we're partnering with some of the world's most innovative automotive brands, and we're looking for a Master Diagnostic Specialist who can combine expert-level technical knowledge with exceptional problem-solving skills.

This isn't your typical technician role. You'll work directly with dealerships, engineering teams, and automotive leaders to tackle challenging diagnostic cases, identify trends, improve processes, and help shape the future of vehicle repair. All while earning an hourly wage - not flat-rate pay – and with tools and uniforms supplied.

As a level 2 & 3 Automotive Technician, you'll:

  • Diagnose and resolve the most challenging vehicle concerns and technical cases
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to dealerships and technical support teams
  • Analyze diagnostic sessions, vehicle data, and repair trends to identify root causes
  • Coach and mentor technicians on advanced diagnostic strategies
  • Work closely with engineering, field teams, and stakeholders to improve vehicle performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and repair efficiency
  • Support the successful adoption of new technologies, processes, and diagnostic methodologies
  • Translate technical findings into actionable solutions that deliver measurable results
  • Verify published labor times are accurate and inclusive

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, vehicle communication networks, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with OBD scanners and manufacturer diagnostic software
  • Ability to analyze diagnostic session files and vehicle data
  • Knowledge of vehicle data systems and trend analysis

Desired Skills

  • Strong root-cause analysis capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with dealers, engineers, and leadership teams
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Kaizen
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving and performance improvement

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Automotive vocational training preferred
  • ASE Certification preferred but not required
  • 3-5+ years of dealership technician or bumper-to-bumper repair experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills
  • DMS experience is a plus
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
