Job Description: The Role Within Fidelity’s Workplace Investing (WI) Client Engagement Group (CEG), the Director, Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy will lead market and competitive intelligence for Stock Plan Services, Executive Financial Services, and Nonqualified Deferred Compensation. The role will also assess broader developments across retirement, workplace wealth, financial wellness, and participant engagement that could affect these businesses. The Director will provide an independent, outside-in perspective on competitors, market dynamics, client needs, emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and growth opportunities. This individual will distinguish meaningful signals from market noise, develop informed points of view, and translate research into recommendations that shape business strategy, product priorities, commercial execution, and investment decisions. Support strategic planning, sales opportunities, competitive takeaways, client retention, market positioning, and thought leadership with tailored intelligence. Build strong relationships across Product, Sales, Relationship Management, Marketing, Strategy, and senior leadership to ensure intelligence is timely, relevant, and actionable. Manage external research providers, analysts, consultants, industry experts, and data vendors. Evaluate the impact of intelligence programs and continually refine the research agenda based on business needs and outcomes. The Expertise and Skills You Bring 8+ years of experience in corporate strategy, consulting, product strategy, competitive/market intelligence, or a related financial services discipline. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex markets, develop independent perspectives, and translate findings into actionable strategic recommendations. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information. Experience applying competitive and market research approaches such as benchmarking, market mapping, scenario planning, win/loss analysis, and opportunity assessment. Excellent written, verbal, and executive presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and influence senior stakeholders. Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships, challenge assumptions constructively, and influence decisions without direct authority. Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, learning agility, and comfort operating in an evolving and ambiguous environment. Familiarity with AI, automation, analytics, digital experiences, and other technologies shaping financial services. Experience in workplace investing, equity compensation, executive financial services, nonqualified plans, retirement, wealth management, or financial wellness is strongly preferred. The Value You Deliver Provide an objective, evidence-based perspective that improves strategic, product, and investment decisions. Help Fidelity identify market opportunities and competitive risks Strengthen product differentiation, market positioning, sales effectiveness, and client retention. Connect external market developments with internal business priorities and recommended actions.
