At Heidelberg Materials Australia, we are changing how our aggregates and recycling operations work. Our National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre in Brisbane gives us real-time visibility of multiple sites, helping us make faster decisions and improve performance. We are looking for an Optimisation Specialist to join the Centre on a rotating roster that includes shift work. This role combines operational knowledge with live data to help sites make quick, effective decisions. The Opportunity From our central operations centre, you will help improve performance across connected quarry and recycling sites. You will remotely monitor fixed and mobile plant, production plans and key operational assets, while providing live support to site teams when needed. This is an active operational role, not just a monitoring role. You will analyse information, act on issues and make decisions in real time. From one central location, you will support multiple sites to operate safely, efficiently and consistently around the clock. If you enjoy fast-paced work, solving problems and supporting operations at any hour, this role could be a good fit. Occasional travel to connected sites will be required. This will help you build relationships with site teams and understand their equipment, processes and operational challenges firsthand. What You Will Drive As an Optimisation Specialist, you will: Monitor operations and provide immediate support to site operators and supervisors Review production data and KPIs to identify trends, problems and opportunities, share insights with subject matter experts and act where needed Support planning and scheduling with practical, data-based recommendations for resources and shift plans Make sure site teams complete planning activities, support the effective use of planning tools and help improve processes Oversee production across multiple locations from the central operations centre Monitor equipment status, plant performance and alarms to keep operations within required limits Identify operational issues early, understand their impact and work with site teams and AROC colleagues to take corrective action and reduce production loss Escalate complex issues when needed while helping maintain stable operations Support safe and efficient plant operation by following established procedures Capture and share best practices and lessons learned to strengthen our national optimisation knowledge base About You You focus on results and take action. When you see an issue, you take ownership, understand the problem and act quickly. You work consistently and follow clear processes. You communicate well, build trust and can influence operators, supervisors and technical specialists without needing formal authority. You are energetic, resilient and flexible, especially when working rotating shifts. You understand that operations continue around the clock. Experience & Capability Good understanding of mining operations, load and haul, and mobile heavy equipment Strong knowledge of fixed plant processes, applications and yield Ability to understand operational data and turn it into practical actions Experience in environments where safety, uptime and production targets are important Experience working shift-based hours A relevant science, engineering or technical qualification is preferred, but practical industry experience will also be considered. Strong people skills and the ability to positively influence internal stakeholders Strong critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills Confidence in troubleshooting, prioritising and making timely decisions Why Join the Remote Optimisation Centre The National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre is a new way of working. It brings together technology, expertise and strong operational practices to create a smarter and more connected quarry network. As one of three Optimisation Specialists, you will help shape this new way of working.
