Acoustics Team Leader

Lead the future of acoustics across some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes.

We are looking for an experienced Acoustics Team Leader to shape and grow our acoustics capability while leading the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK.

You’ll work on high-profile rail, highways and major linear infrastructure schemes, providing expert advice from planning and consenting through to design and delivery. This is a role for someone who wants to combine technical leadership, strategic client advice and team development while working alongside planners, engineers and environmental specialists.

What you’ll do

Technical leadership

  • Lead and technically assure noise and vibration assessments for major infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical direction, review and sign-off.
  • Develop practical, innovative mitigation solutions that meet regulatory and client requirements.
  • Act as a trusted acoustics authority within multidisciplinary teams.

Strategic advisory & client engagement

  • Advise clients, contractors and developers on acoustic risk, constraints and consenting strategy.
  • Provide early-stage input to shape project strategy and support projects through delivery.
  • Contribute to planning, examination and stakeholder engagement processes, including technical submissions.

Team leadership & growth

  • Lead, mentor and develop a growing acoustics team.
  • Build technical capability, encourage knowledge sharing and drive innovation.
  • Support recruitment and the continued growth of the acoustics business.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture.

Integrated project delivery

  • Work closely with engineers, planners and environmental specialists to embed acoustics into design and environmental strategy.
  • Support delivery teams in managing noise and vibration risks during construction.
  • Turn complex technical and regulatory requirements into practical, buildable solutions.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to make a visible impact on major UK infrastructure, influence how acoustics is embedded into project design and delivery, and help build a high-performing specialist team.

If you’re an experienced acoustics professional ready to take the next step into technical leadership, strategic advisory and team growth, we’d like to hear from you.

About You

You bring a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and delivery focus, with experience gained on complex infrastructure projects.

Essential

  • Degree in Acoustics or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in environmental acoustics, including major infrastructure projects
  • Proven track record delivering EIA and consenting support (DCO / planning)
  • Experience working on linear infrastructure (rail, highways, energy corridors)
  • Strong understanding of UK noise and vibration standards and guidance
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary inputs and manage technical delivery

Desirable

  • Experience working on nationally significant infrastructure projects
  • Experience contributing to examinations, hearings, or expert evidence
  • Chartered or working toward chartership (e.g. MIOA, CEnv, CSci)
  • Experience with relevant modelling tools (e.g. CadnaA, SoundPLAN)

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on high-profile, nationally significant infrastructure programmes
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with strong technical depth
  • The ability to shape and grow a key capability area
  • A clear path for career progression into senior leadership roles
  • A culture focused on innovation, sustainability, and meaningful impact
