Role Overview
As a Nursing Assistant (CNA), you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of our patients. Working under the guidance of Registered Nurses (RNs), you'll provide essential patient care, assist in care planning, and respond to emergent situations. What You Will Do
- Provide specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs under RN supervision.
- Assist in planning and implementing patient care based on observed needs.
- Respond to emergent situations following established procedures.
- Participate in ongoing education to enhance your skills and knowledge.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet the safety and comfort needs of the patient. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.
These duties may include but are not limited to:
- Blood draws
- Vitals
- Performs venipuncture and chemsticks
- Team rounding
- Identifies concerns related to patients, staff, and self, and communicates with the responsible RN
UNIT DESCRIPTION:
Orthopedic Joint Replacement, Bariatric, Surgical Unit – 3 wings with a total of 36 beds
• Specialty Unit with appreciative population

TIME: 6:00PM - 6:30AM
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (e.g., CNA, PCT, PAT) OR current enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing course OR foreign-trained RN without a Michigan RN license OR Medical Assistant program with or without experience OR at least one year of experience in a similar role.
- Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA certification preferred.
