Company Description Depop is a peer-to-peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover secondhand fashion. Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new. Founded in 2011, Depop’s diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative, but how people of different ages now engage with fashion. Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it. Powered by a team of over 500 people, our company is headquartered in London, with offices in New York. In 2021, Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy - the global marketplace for unique and creative goods - and continues to operate as a standalone company. For more information, visit www.depop.com We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or where they’re from. Just as our platform connects people globally, we believe our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We thrive on the power of different perspectives and experiences, knowing they drive innovation and bring us closer to our users. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We’re continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have. AI Disclosure: We use AI tools (Google Gemini) to help our team source and review applications for roles with a high volume of applications. These tools assist our recruiters in identifying great talent but do not replace human decision-making. At Depop, every hiring decision is made by a human. If, due to a disability, you need adjustments to complete the application, please let us know by sending an email with your name, the role to which you would like to apply, and the type of support you need to complete the application to [email protected]. Role The Platform Enablement team builds the foundations that help every engineering team at Depop ship faster, safer, and more consistently. We own Depop's developer platform - from service catalog and GitHub compliance tooling to AI platform foundations, incident management workflows, and the internal frameworks teams rely on to operate their services. As an engineer on this team, you'd be working directly with Kubernetes (EKS) and AWS - getting hands-on with real infrastructure problems alongside a team that treats internal engineers as its users. Day to day, that means contributing to our Kubernetes estate, building and improving AWS infrastructure with Terraform/IaC, helping embed best practices across the engineering org, and building tooling that reduces friction for the ~300 microservices Depop runs in production. The role blends infrastructure engineering with a platform mindset. Success isn't just uptime - it's measured by how confidently product engineers can build, deploy, and operate their services on the foundations we provide. Responsibilities Platform & Developer Tooling Contribute to the development and maintenance of Depop's internal developer platform, including service catalog tooling (Backstage), GitHub compliance automation, and AI platform foundations Build and maintain integrations between platform services and engineering workflows Write clear, well-tested infrastructure-as-code and automation under the guidance of senior engineers Kubernetes & AWS Estate Get hands-on with Depop's Kubernetes (EKS) estate: deploy, configure, and maintain workloads, manage resource allocation, and contribute to cluster health Build and improve AWS infrastructure using Terraform/IaC - covering compute, networking, IAM, and storage patterns used across the engineering org Contribute to platform guardrails and tooling that help product engineers deploy safely and consistently on AWS and Kubernetes Help identify and address gaps in our AWS estate - covering security posture, cost hygiene, and operational standards - working alongside senior platform engineers Build reusable Terraform/IaC patterns and contribute to the standards the wider engineering organisation follows Collaborate with product engineering teams and across the platform group on shared infrastructure patterns and standards Reliability & Cross-team Enablement Support reliability workflows including incident management tooling (incident.io), observability integrations, and post-incident improvements Work closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs and feed that into platform improvements Growth Take ownership of well-scoped tasks, delivering to agreed standards with support from your team Participate in code review and contribute to the team's engineering culture Requirements Required Hands-on experience with Kubernetes - comfortable with core concepts (pods, deployments, services, namespaces) and day-to-day use of kubectl Working knowledge of AWS - experience with at least some of EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, or equivalent services in a real environment Familiarity with scripting or automation (Python, Bash, or similar) Comfortable with Git and GitHub-based workflows Clear communicator who can collaborate across teams Preferred Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Crossplane, or similar) Exposure to observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, or similar) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows Interest in developer experience, internal tooling, or platform engineering Exposure to incident management or on-call workflows Familiarity with Backstage or service catalog concepts Interest in AI/ML infrastructure or LLM tooling UK Benefits (Permanent) Health + Mental Wellbeing PMI and cash plan healthcare access with Bupa Subsidised counselling and coaching with Self Space Cycle to Work scheme with options from Evans or the Green Commute Initiative Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for 24/7 confidential support Mental Health First Aiders across the business for support and signposting Work/Life Balance: 25 days of annual leave with the option to carry over up to 5 days Impact hours: Up to 2 days of additional paid leave per year for volunteering Fully paid 4-week sabbatical after completion of 5 years of consecutive service with Depop, to give you a chance to recharge or do something you love.
