The Interventional Cardiology Unit (5200) at Sands-Constellation Heart Institute is seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic cardiac care team. Unit 5200 is an acute intermediate care telemetry floor that provides specialized care to patients recovering from advanced cardiac interventions and procedures. This unit is an excellent environment for nurses to build a strong foundation in cardiac nursing and grow their clinical expertise. RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Compassionate, warm and patient focused Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Registered Nurse license in New York State Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred At least 6 months RN experience preferred EDUCATION: AS: Nursing (Required) LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of ProfessionsNew York State Education Department (NYSED) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
