  • Analyze installation requirements, dependencies, configurations, compatibility, licensing considerations, and prerequisites to produce standardized packages.
  • Create and customize silent installation, upgrade, repair, and uninstall processes for MSI, MSIX, EXE, and Intune Win32 applications.
  • Configure deployment settings, command lines, detection methods, requirement rules, dependencies, return codes, assignments, and supersedence relationships.

  • Create proactive remediation scripts and detection/remediation pairs for Intune to identify and correct endpoint configuration or application issues.
  • Develop deployment scripts that handle prerequisites, process management, user notifications, logging, exit codes, restart behavior, and rollback requirements.
  • Use reusable functions, parameterization, error handling, transcript logging, code comments, and version control practices to improve script quality and maintainability.
  • Build and maintain packaging templates and automation that reduce manual effort and improve repeatability.
  • Independently validate scripts and AI-assisted output in a controlled environment before production use.

Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Perform structured testing of application packages and scripts in a controlled environment before production release.
  • Validate installation, launch, core functionality, upgrades, repair, uninstallation, detection logic, user experience, and operating system compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot installation failures, application conflicts, permission issues, and deployment errors before release.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing with application owners and business stakeholders when appropriate.
  • Document test evidence, known limitations, deployment procedures, rollback plans, and support considerations.

Application Lifecycle and Security

  • Maintain an accurate catalog and inventory of packaged enterprise applications, package owners, versions, dependencies, and deployment status.
  • Manage upgrades, replacements, and retirement of outdated, unsupported, or redundant software.
  • Partner with Information Security to remediate application vulnerabilities through updates, configuration changes, removal, or replacement.
  • Support software asset management and license compliance through accurate deployment and inventory records.
  • Ensure packages and scripts comply with organizational security, configuration, change, and release management standards.

Troubleshooting and Technical Support

  • Investigate and resolve complex application installation, upgrade, and deployment issues escalated by IT support teams.
  • Analyze SCCM/MECM, Intune, Windows Installer, PowerShell, event, and vendor application logs to determine root cause.
  • Collaborate with software vendors, infrastructure engineers, security teams, application owners, and Support Services (Helpdesk) personnel to resolve compatibility and delivery issues.
  • Monitor deployment results, identify recurring failures, and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to support teams regarding installation procedures and troubleshooting.

Documentation and Process Improvement

  • Establish and maintain application packaging standards, naming conventions, folder structures, procedures, reusable templates, and quality checklists.
  • Create clear technical documentation covering prerequisites, dependencies, installation logic, detection logic, deployment instructions, support notes, and rollback procedures.
  • Participate in change and release management processes to support controlled and auditable software deployments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve packaging speed, deployment reliability, endpoint security, and end-user experience.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools, when appropriate, to accelerate script development, log analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation while independently validating all outputs before implementation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in application packaging, software deployment, endpoint management, or a closely related technical role.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune, and App Deployment Toolkit to package and deploy enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows installation technologies and deployment methods, including MSI, MSIX, EXE, Win32, and silent installation techniques.
