Key Responsibilities Conduct geological mapping and assess geological conditions at dam, tunnel, and associated infrastructure locations. Supervise geological investigations, borehole logging, rock mass classification, and geotechnical assessments. Monitor geological conditions during tunnel excavation, including rock formations, joints, faults, fractures, groundwater seepage, and potential instability. Assess foundation geology for dams, including rock quality, discontinuities, seepage, and foundation treatment requirements. Provide geological inputs for tunnel support systems, excavation methods, grouting, and slope stabilization. Monitor dam foundation excavation, abutments, diversion tunnels, and underground structures, as applicable. Identify geological hazards and recommend suitable mitigation measures in coordination with design and construction teams. Review geological investigation data, construction drawings, and technical reports. Maintain geological records, prepare site inspection reports, and document geological conditions encountered during construction. Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, and construction teams to resolve site-related geological issues. Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and site safety requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, or Engineering Geology. Postgraduate qualification in Engineering Geology or a related field will be an added advantage. Experience Relevant experience in geological investigations and construction supervision for dam and hydropower projects. Experience in tunnel geology, underground excavation, rock mass classification, and dam foundation assessment. Knowledge of geological mapping, groundwater assessment, grouting, and geological risk identification. Strong technical reporting and coordination skills.
