Our school is committed to creating a nurturing, hands-on learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, build confidence, develop independence, and discover a lifelong love of learning.

At Cabrillo Montessori, we believe in creating a warm, supportive, and consistent environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our Montessori approach fosters independence, creativity, problem-solving, and meaningful social connections while honoring each child's individual pace of development.

Our Yellowstone Primary Community serves children ages 3–6, providing an engaging environment where children learn through hands-on activities, practical life experiences, meaningful work, and purposeful exploration.

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Preschool Assistant Teacher to work collaboratively with our Lead Guide and teaching team to support daily classroom activities, student development, and the overall classroom experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Guide and teaching team to support daily classroom activities and Montessori learning experiences.
  • Assist with individual and small-group learning activities that encourage independence, curiosity, and confidence.
  • Supervise and support children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, transitions, and daily routines.
  • Encourage positive behavior, emotional development, problem-solving, and respectful interactions.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and maintain a beautiful, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Support engaging hands-on activities such as gardening, cooking, art, science, STEM, and practical life experiences.
  • Build warm, positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and joyful classroom community where every child can thrive.

We're Looking for Preschool Assistant Teachers Who:

  • Have experience or a strong desire to work with preschool-aged children.
  • Bring warmth, patience, energy, and enthusiasm to the classroom.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive teaching team.
  • Are dependable, flexible, and committed to creating a positive experience for children.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are interested in learning about Montessori education and child development.
  • Are eager to grow professionally and explore opportunities for Montessori certification and future leadership roles.

Montessori experience is welcomed but not required! We value educators who are passionate about working with children and excited to learn.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:

Working with young children is an active, hands-on experience! Our teachers spend their days moving, engaging with children at their level, and supporting learning both indoors and outdoors.

This position includes:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, squat, and move throughout the classroom and outdoor learning environments consistently throughout the day
  • Ability to sit on the floor or work at child-sized tables and chairs to engage with children during daily activities consistently throughout the day
  • Ability to lift, carry, and assist children or classroom materials weighing approximately 10–30 pounds as needed intermittently throughout the day
  • Ability to actively supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, transitions, and daily routines consistently throughout the day
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues consistently throughout the day
  • Ability to work in a lively preschool environment with varying levels of noise, activity, and frequent interruptions consistently throughout the day
  • Ability to transition between indoor and outdoor environments and adapt to varying weather conditions as needed
  • Ability to respond promptly and appropriately to children's needs and classroom situations as needed
