The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, including nursing, residential, Parkinson's and short-stay care. Advanced bookings available for short-stay care. Everything is on one floor, and the building has a circular design. This gives every room garden access, making it easier for residents to find their own way round. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, with colour themes and memory triggers. With the help of their loved ones, staff build a picture of their life story and their likes and dislikes. Staff can then personalise care and help them live the way they want to. Communication and engagement are a big part of life here, too. So, if your loved one finds it easier to use signs and symbols to communicate, the team are happy to use Makaton. There’s always lots going on within the welcoming community. Activities are run seven days a week and frequently join neighbouring Bupa care home, Tenterden House (offering nursing and residential care), for a range of engaging events and the occasional themed meal. We are looking for an equally passionate Kitchen Assistant to join the team and help deliver an excellent dining experience for our residents. You’ll help us make health happen by: Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home. You’ll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience. Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you’re comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
