About the opportunity The Group Billing and Receivables function is a centralised Support Service that undertakes billing and receivable activities across Mercy Health.   Led by the Group Billing and Receivables Manager, Health Services, the function comprises multiple teams that support the Health Service and Health Ageing business streams.  The Billing Officer  is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of patient billing across multiple systems and multiple sites, health fund claims, in accordance with Australian healthcare funding models. This role ensures compliance with Medicare, private health insurance, and regulatory requirements while supporting revenue integrity and delivering high-quality service to patients and stakeholders.   The role will also develop an understanding and oversight of all billing functions performed by the Group Billings and Receivables Team whilst providing guidance, support and education to other team members.  As a centralised role, engagement will be via a common law contract rather than a Victorian Health EBA. What you’ll bring It takes a special kind of person to work in healthcare or community services. To thrive in this role, you will have: 2+ years of experience and knowledge of performing a similar Billing officer role within the hospital sector.  Experience with iPM billing. A high attention to detail and commitment to accurate working.   Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.  A strong customer service focus and a commitment to a culture of excellence and quality.  Value self-improvement and aim to enhance your skills and knowledge through continual learning and development.  Proficiency across the  Microsoft suite of products to include Excel.
