Story
Most plot generators spit out what's basically a logline and hope you figure out the rest. A real plot has conflict with stakes, a midpoint where something breaks, and an ending that earns itself. This one works that way. Drop in a premise or start from nothing, pick a genre, get back plots with turning points you can actually write from. No vague synopses, no passive characters, no endings that feel tacked on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about plot generation
What is a story plot?
A story plot is the sequence of events that drive your narrative forward. It includes the main conflict, character decisions, obstacles, twists, and resolution. Our story plot generator creates complete plots with all essential elements: inciting incident, rising action, climax, and resolution.
How many plot ideas will I get?
You'll receive 5 unique plot ideas with each generation! Each plot includes a hook description and detailed 3-act structure breakdown. This gives you multiple options to choose from and the flexibility to mix and match elements from different plots.
What types of plots can the generator create?
The generator creates plots for all major fiction genres: romance plots, mystery plots, thriller plots, fantasy quests, sci-fi adventures, horror scenarios, contemporary dramas, and more. Each plot is tailored to genre-specific expectations and tropes.
How do I use a generated plot?
Once you choose a plot, you can open it directly in Sudowrite to start writing your story. The plot provides the framework - you develop the characters, write the dialogue, describe the scenes, and bring the story to life with your unique voice and style.
Can I generate plots without providing ideas?
Yes! You can generate completely original plots by just selecting your genre. The AI will create unique, genre-appropriate plots from scratch. Providing your own ideas is optional and helps personalize the plots, but it's not required.
What if I don't like the generated plots?
Simply generate again! You can create as many plot variations as you need. Try different genres, add more specific ideas, or keep the ideas field blank for different results. Each generation produces 5 new plots with fresh perspectives.
Are the plots original?
Yes! While plots may share common story structures and archetypes (which all stories do), each generated plot is unique. The AI creates new combinations of conflicts, character situations, and plot twists that haven't been generated before.
Can I write novels from these plots?
Absolutely! Many writers use our plot generator to outline their novels. The 3-act structure provides a solid framework for a full-length book. You'll need to expand each act with chapters, scenes, and detailed character development, but the core plot gives you a strong foundation.
Is the story plot generator free?
Yes! You can generate plot ideas for free. Once you've found a plot you love, you can open it in Sudowrite to continue writing your full story with additional AI-powered writing tools.
