The Role
TOTEME is looking for a People Operations Generalist APAC to join our team in Shanghai full-time. In this role you will strengthen local People & Culture support primarily in China, ensuring efficient, compliant and consistent People Operations across retail and office. By providing hands-on support to managers and employees, the role will increase local ownership, improve operational efficiency and ensure alignment with global P&C processes and standards. In this role you will report to the General Manager in China, with dotted line to the Global P&C team in Stockholm.
Responsibilities
Act as the first point of People support for Store Managers in China and potentially first-line leaders at the Shanghai Office
Support the Regional Retail Manager with day-to-day people matters across the China retail organization
Provide guidance to managers on employee relations, performance, absence, policies and other day-to-day people matters, escalating more complex cases to the P&C team at HQ.
Coordinate payroll preparation, calculation and validation in collaboration with local payroll providers, ensuring accurate and timely processing
Support employment compliance, including statutory reporting, government filings and maintenance of required employee documentation.
Prepare employment contracts, amendments, offer letters and other employee documentation.
Coordinate onboarding and offboarding
Coordinate and support retail recruitment together with local managers
Maintain accurate employee data and documentation in the HRIS
Identify opportunities to improve and standardize People Operations processes across China, while ensuring alignment with local requirements and global policies
Partner with the wider People & Culture team to ensure consistent global People practices.
Your Profile
Relevant higher education within HR, People & Culture, Business Administration or a related field
A couple of years of broad experience within People Operations/HR
Experience from working with payroll, Compensation & Benefits coordination
Experience from a retail organization or other similar international, multi-site environment
Good knowledge of Chinese employment practices and HR requirements
Knowledge of other APAC markets
Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese.

This is a full-time position based at TOTEME's Shanghai office with an immediate start.
TOTEME has teams in Stockholm, London, New York, and Shanghai, as well as retail spaces across Europe, North America, and Asia.
