As a Commis 1 specializing in Continental Cuisine, you will work under the guidance of senior kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, execute basic cooking techniques, and maintain the highest standards of food quality and safety. - Prepare and portion ingredients according to standardized recipes and chef specifications
- Execute fundamental continental cuisine cooking techniques including sautéing, braising, and sauce preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all food safety and hygiene protocols
- Assist in the preparation of mise en place for service periods
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, stovetops, and food processors
- Support senior kitchen staff in plating and presentation of dishes to maintain consistency and quality standards
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure dishes meet quality specifications
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow during service
- Rotate stock and maintain proper storage of ingredients and supplies
- Follow all recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines established by the kitchen
- Proficiency in basic knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Knowledge of continental cuisine cooking methods and flavor profiles
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a kitchen brigade structure
- Attention to detail in food preparation and plating
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
- Preferred: Culinary training or certification from a recognized institution
- Preferred: Knowledge of food costing and inventory management
Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
