Manager of Funding & Disbursement Operations.

FULL TIMEREMOTEFINANCE & LEGAL

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager of Funding & Disbursement Operations based in the United States.

Take the lead in managing critical financial operations that support individuals and families navigating important life journeys. In this fully remote role, you will oversee funding, deposits, disbursements, and payment processes while ensuring accuracy, security, and operational efficiency. You will lead and develop a remote, cross-cultural team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. By strengthening financial controls and optimizing workflows, you will help protect client funds and maintain reliable, timely transactions. Working closely with accounting, escrow operations, and compliance teams, you will support evolving business needs and regulatory requirements. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced financial operations leader who enjoys developing people, solving complex problems, and building scalable processes in a growing organization.

Accountabilities

    • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and support a remote, cross-cultural team responsible for payment and deposit operations. Establish clear expectations, provide coaching and constructive feedback, and promote accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.

    • Daily Funding and Disbursement Operations: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of deposits, disbursements, and other payment activities, ensuring that client funds are verified, handled securely, and delivered to the correct recipients.

    • Financial Controls and Risk Management: Maintain robust controls for payment approvals, check releases, ACH transactions, NACHA processes, and other financial activities. Ensure appropriate verification procedures, segregation of duties, and compliance with established policies.

    • Operational Performance and Efficiency: Define and monitor key performance indicators, evaluate operational bottlenecks, and implement improvements that increase accuracy, productivity, consistency, and scalability.

    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with escrow operations, accounting, and compliance teams to coordinate workflows, facilitate smooth handoffs, and address changing operational and regulatory requirements.

    • Process Optimization and Innovation: Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, strengthen internal controls, improve team capabilities, and introduce technology, automation, or AI-enabled tools where appropriate.

    • Operational Risk and Problem-Solving: Investigate recurring issues, identify root causes, assess potential risks, and implement corrective actions that maintain service quality as transaction volumes and business complexity increase.

    • Continuous Improvement and Team Empowerment: Build clear, repeatable processes that enable team members to take ownership, resolve issues independently, and deliver reliable results as the organization grows.

    • Requirements

      • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in payments, banking, treasury, or related financial operations, including a minimum of 2 years in a people management role.

      • Payment Systems Expertise: Strong knowledge of U.S. payment systems and financial processes, including ACH, NACHA, domestic and international wire transfers, checks, and credit card payments.

      • Financial Controls: Demonstrated understanding of payment authorization, transaction verification, risk management, segregation of duties, and financial operational controls.

      • People Management: Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members, establish performance expectations, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

      • Remote Team Leadership: Experience managing distributed teams across different countries, cultures, or time zones, with the ability to maintain effective communication and consistent performance.

      • Process Improvement: A track record of identifying operational inefficiencies, redesigning workflows, implementing practical solutions, and measuring improvements in performance and accuracy.

      • Analytical and Critical-Thinking Skills: Ability to investigate complex problems, identify root causes, evaluate risks, interpret operational data, and make sound, well-informed decisions.

      • Adaptability and Change Management: Confidence leading teams through evolving processes, systems, technology, and business requirements while maintaining operational stability.

      • Communication and Organization: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

      • Technology and Automation: Experience using technology, automation, or AI tools to improve financial operations and streamline workflows.

      • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in escrow operations, trust accounting, anti-money laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance, or international payments is an advantage. Experience in a growing organization with evolving operational or regulatory requirements is also desirable.

      • Work Authorization: Candidates must reside in the United States and be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without current or future visa sponsorship. This is a full-time, U.S.-based W-2 position.

      • Benefits

        • Fully remote work: Work remotely from within the United States.

        • Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

        • Financial security: Life insurance and access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan.

        • Flexible paid time off: Unlimited PTO to support personal well-being and work-life balance.

        • Leadership opportunities: Lead a distributed team and help shape the processes, controls, and operational practices of a growing organization.

        • Meaningful impact: Contribute to the secure and reliable management of client funds during important personal and family journeys.

        • Collaborative culture: Join a remote team that values accountability, trust, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
