The Lee Teng Undergraduate Fellowship is a competitive, paid, 10-week summer program that provides a unique research experience in accelerator science and technology. It provides an integrated approach to accelerator science and technology, including exposure to the field beyond individual research projects. Students are assigned to mentored projects at Argonne and will receive guidance on preparing competitive applications to graduate school programs. At the end of the summer, they write a paper about their summer research and give a short presentation about their project. Students are assigned a physicist or engineer mentor at Argonne based on the best match of student skills with the research project. The Summer 2027 program will run from June 7th through August 13th. Application Deadline: December 1st, 2026, at 11:59 PM CST. Late submissions will not be accepted. Education and Experience Requirements Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution as an Undergraduate Sophomore or Junior. Accepted program applicants must provide evidence of authorization to work in the United States. (open to both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals) Must be 18 years or older at the time the internship begins Demonstrate interest in physics, electrical engineering, computing and control systems, mechanical engineering, and/or material science Provide two (2) letters of recommendation If accepting an offer, candidates may be required to complete pre-employment drug testing based on appointment length.
