Geophysicist.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Strathcona Resources Ltd. is one of North America’s fastest growing pure play heavy oil producers with operations focused on thermal oil and enhanced oil recovery near the Cold Lake and Lloydminster regions of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Strathcona is committed to doing business the right way, guided by our core values: Integrity, Energy, and Intelligence. These values define who we are as a company, how we work together, and how we make decisions: We prioritize respect, accountability, and collaboration. That means everyone can shape and strengthen our culture and drive results in meaningful ways. Our people bring energy and curiosity to solve problems and deliver results. Be part of a team where performance, collaboration, and innovation come together to drive success. We are seeking a Geophysicist to join our Lloydminster Conventional team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Geosciences – Lloydminster Conventional, the Geophysicist will apply geophysical expertise across our conventional and polymer flood assets to support both operational and strategic decision‑making. This role is key in enhancing reservoir exploitation, optimizing well performance, and supporting drill‑location selection. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and development engineers. Responsibilities Conduct high‑quality interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic datasets and integrate results with geological mapping across the Lloydminster Conventional asset base. Oversee seismic data processing and reprocessing; quality‑control stacks, gathers, and associated processing outputs. Provide geophysical support during both planning and execution phases of drilling operations, including horizontal, multi‑lateral, and deviated wells. Serve as the on‑call operations contact for the Calgary office during drilling activities, making real‑time geosteering decisions as required. Ensure key learnings and technical insights are effectively shared with the broader team to support future drilling campaigns. As required, manage the planning, acquisition, and quality control of new 2D and 3D seismic data to support the needs of the Lloydminster Conventional Business Unit. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics. 5+ years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, with a focus on conventional assets. Experience in conventional heavy oil development is considered an asset. Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Seisware. Proven expertise in seismic stratigraphic and structural interpretation, including modelling, synthetic ties, amplitude mapping, time‑to‑depth conversion, and attribute analysis. Experience supporting drilling operations is an asset. Commitment to technical excellence in both interpretations and presentations. Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and prioritization skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and deliver clear, professional presentations. Work Environment Position is based in our Calgary head office. Occasional field travel may be required. Great things aren’t done by one person, they’re done by a team. We believe meaningful results come from people with unwavering commitment to integrity, energy, and intelligence – how we show up matters just as much as what we deliver. We value our work, our communities, and our commitments – but most of all, we value the team of people who make what we do possible. Apply to Strathcona If you have what it takes to be a great Strathcona team member, we want to hear from you. We appreciate all interest in this opportunity but only those selected to advance through the process will be contacted. Value-Driven, Growth-Oriented and Long-Term Focused. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Strathcona Resources Ltd. is one of North America’s fastest growing oil and gas producers. Spanning Alberta and Saskatchewan, operations are concentrated in the Cold Lake and Lloydminster areas. Each operating area is characterized by a long reserve life which will facilitate future growth and high margin current production. At Strathcona, we pride ourselves on maintaining our high standard of safety, strong operational and environmental performance, and positive involvement in the communities where we live and work. Our people are the key to the success of Strathcona. Every employee, contractor and vendor are essential to our performance and culture.
