The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a multi-state workforce. This role performs payroll audits, reviews timekeeping records, reconciles payroll data, administers garnishments, and assists with payroll tax and year-end activities. The Payroll Specialist partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, managers, and employees to ensure payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. Job Description: rocess payroll transactions accurately and timely for all employees. Review employee time sheets and audit timekeeping records to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with company policies. Generate, review, and analyze payroll-related reports in Workday. Audit payroll transactions and payroll processes to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies. Support the processing and validation of weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles. Partner with Human Resources on payroll-related activities, including leave administration, benefits processing, and time-tracking audits. Manage wage attachments and garnishments, including child support orders, tax levies, agency correspondence, system setup, payment processing, and employee communications. Monitor and respond to payroll inbox inquiries, providing timely and professional support to employees and managers. Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation, reconciliations, audits, and regulatory reporting. Reconcile payroll taxes and assist with payroll tax filings and related audits. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, managers, and business partners. Assist with State Agency tax notices Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience; multi-state payroll experience preferred. Experience with payroll systems and reporting tools; Workday experience preferred. Experience reviewing timekeeping records, payroll audits, and payroll reconciliation processes. Knowledge of weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing practices. Working knowledge of garnishments, child support orders, federal and state levies, and wage attachments. Knowledge of payroll tax regulations, filings, and reconciliation processes. Basic knowledge of union agreements and payroll administration. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications The expected pay range for this role is $60,000 - $71,000.
