About us Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better. We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge - more categories, more locations, and more people. About the role As a Product Engineer, you will play a key role in turning engineering designs and product concepts into real, buildable products. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of a new product category, working with cross-functional teams to help shape products from early development through to production. This is a hands-on, cross-functional engineering role with broad visibility across the product development lifecycle. You will be closely involved in prototype build planning and execution, product configuration and technical product development, while helping to bridge the gap between engineering development and manufacturing. The role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys understanding products at a system level, working across disciplines and taking ownership of getting products from design into physical builds and ultimately into production. Prototype Build Management Own prototype build planning from understanding product and test requirements through build completion and sample allocation. Translate SKU, product configuration and test requirements into clear and executable build matrices, defining product variants, quantities, priorities and intended allocation. Coordinate BOM readiness, engineering releases, materials, tooling and manufacturing readiness activities required to support successful prototype builds. Work closely with internal engineering teams, contract manufacturers and development partners to align build requirements, coordinate build activities and resolve technical issues throughout product development. Prioritise prototype builds and allocate completed units according to development and test criticality. Support build planning and execution within agreed project timelines, resource constraints and budget considerations. Maintain accurate build records and configuration history to support product development and traceability. Product Configuration, BOM & Traceability Ensure product BOMs accurately represent the intended SKU and finished-good configuration, including applicable components, assemblies and accessories. Work closely with SKU and product teams to establish SKU configurations and market variants. Define product identification and traceability requirements for devices, attachments and accessories, including product labelling, rating plates and appropriate serial or batch/lot identification. Own the product-level implementation of these requirements, working with Regulatory, Compliance, Quality, Graphics and other relevant functions. Product Integration & Development Act as the product engineering focal point across Engineering, Technical, Manufacturing, Quality and Testing teams, coordinating inputs and driving resolution of product-level issues throughout development. Develop a strong understanding of the product and how it works, using this knowledge to connect engineering, testing and manufacturing activities and drive robust product outcomes. Support product transfer into production by ensuring product definitions and configurations are complete and aligned with manufacturing requirements. About you Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Manufacturing, Product Engineering or a related technical discipline. Basic understanding of new product development, product lifecycle, SKU range, and business processes, including technical terms, engineering drawings, BOMs, and product specifications. Experience with prototype or pilot build planning and execution. Ability to recreate and modify SKU BOMs and drawings based on design, specification, and manufacturing process changes. Working knowledge of CAD tools is required; hands-on experience with SolidWorks, Siemens NX/UG-NX or equivalent is highly preferred. Strong project management, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities and work across functions. Able to take ownership, work independently and drive issues through to resolution. Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries, with familiarity with ISO 13485 or equivalent quality management systems. Dyson is an equal opportunity employer. We know that great minds don’t think alike, and it takes all kinds of minds to make our technology so unique. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and employment decisions are made without regard to race, colour, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, protected veteran status or other any other dimension of diversity. At Dyson we are focused on solving the problems that others have ignored; solving them first using our technology and ingenuity. In order to achieve this we need to pioneer technologies that are different and authentic. This is the core of what we do and who we are. We must strive to create the future, every single day by developing new things, different things, things that go against the grain with a diverse and global team of ingenious minds. Dyson employs 14,000 people and is present in more than 80 countries. And while we are growing fast we want Dyson to remain a start-up in spirit with the freedom of experimentation and learning, constantly reinventing our products as well as reinventing how we work, how we sell and how we support our owners. At the same time we are working through the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson Award and Dyson Institute to inspire future engineers and pioneering a new approach to engineering education. Underlining everything we do in this diverse environment is the need to always show respect, supporting each other as one team to overcome whatever challenges we encounter. We drive empowerment, development and equality in an inclusive environment for our people around the world. The future doesn’t just happen, we look to make it happen, to achieve leaps through pioneering new ideas.
