Join Marie Curie as a Registered Nurse and help provide compassionate, person-centred care to people living with a terminal illness and those important to them. Based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, you will work alongside the Out of Hours Team as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. You will assess individual needs, plan and deliver high-quality care, manage symptoms and empower patients to make informed choices about what matters most to them.
What you will be doing
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate safe, evidence-based palliative and end-of-life care.
- Build trusting relationships with patients and the people important to them, ensuring their wishes, preferences and dignity remain at the heart of care.
- Work closely with colleagues and external health and social care professionals to provide coordinated support.
- Recognise and respond to changing needs, deterioration and palliative care emergencies.
- Delegate appropriately, support the development of colleagues and contribute to clinical leadership, learning and quality improvement.
- Providing appropriate support and advice to patients and families and over the telephone. Triaging calls to GP’s and District Nurses.
What we’re looking for:
- Registered Nurse on NMC Register
- Experience in NHS or other relevant care setting, ideally in palliative care
- Ability to work in a complex and stressful environment and demonstrate appropriate coping mechanisms
- Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate a care management plan that meets the complex needs of the person, and those important to them
- Proven understanding the barriers and enablers to good communication and how challenges can be overcome
- IT skills and imperative.
